I doubt Steve G would mind our borrowing his pic much . . .

. . . so long as he's attributed as its author.

Btw, Steve used to post here when it was The Purists.  Besides his well-documented example, both Tony [log-in: TNT] and Mike [log-in: MSNWatch] have Homages in their collections.  One of them (Tony, I think) installed a 30T2rg movement in his . . . kinda like putting a 911S engine in a 911T.  So if we're considering inactive members of this forum, the 1894 is already a community watch.

By: COUNT DE MONET : February 26th, 2021-08:56
Timeless is used inflationary on a watch site, but still: what a watch! Rose gold suits her so nice: The watch was recently suggested by our dear Art to me during my hosting of WristScan. Thank you Art! ...

Congratulations πŸ₯‚...

Definitely a superb choice and a keeper for any collection. Enjoy this one in good health for the future. Best regards The Captain

. . . than knowing my suggestion led to an acquisition. I'm sure it will be a keeper, Count. Not wearing mine until my watchmaker tends to it; he's working on White Connie at the moment, so it will be a few months before it's ready for wrist duty. But whe...

Hold your horses Art ..

If I find one we could become β€œThe Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” ;-))

LOL 😎

 By: Cpt Scarlet : February 26th, 2021-10:36

It will be Apocalypse Now! 😱

. . . ever! Take that, Beatles!

Excellent ... LOL !

 By: Cpt Scarlet : February 26th, 2021-11:20

Art, I am seriously considering to get your version too.

By: COUNT DE MONET : February 26th, 2021-10:05
I would normally not get the same movement of a watch twice but here I will make an excemption: it is auch a superb dial on your version!

They're hard to find, Count - only a hundred made . . .

 By: Dr No : February 26th, 2021-11:22
. . . and for Japan exclusively. If you find one, chances are it'll be in Japan. Now if the Captain and one more (Bruce? Ray?) snags an 1894, it'll officially be a community watch. Wouldn't that be something? All credit to Esharp for getting the ball roll...

I was also thinking it to be a community watch πŸ˜€

By: COUNT DE MONET : February 26th, 2021-11:27
To be honest, I didn't think to get this one and also in good condition. It was pure luck Without sounding tacky: it looks like a far, far more expensive watch, then it was. Fantastic quality.

The 1894 had quite a following when I started focusing on Omega almost twenty years ago . . .

 By: Dr No : February 26th, 2021-12:25
. . . but it literally fell off the collector community's 'radar' not long after. Miki scored a NIB example about eight years ago . . . at the time, interest in the Homage was practically nil. So maybe it's a case of it becoming a legitimately vintage wat...

You are right about the timing: now is possibly the time to get it.

By: COUNT DE MONET : February 26th, 2021-13:08
Mine is also a full set and with a very fine blemish on the bezel at 6 and one or two miniscule dings. Nothing really noticeable with the naked eye. It was possibly serviced at one point. The value for money aspect in this instance is fantastic!

They turn up in Geneva, too ... at auctions as a set.

The platinum would be a killing piece!

Wowowoowowow!

First of all, congratulations to our dear Count! Wear and enjoy it in good health. I wore mine on Thursday and couldn’t take my eyes off it, even when meeting with a pal who was wearing his 5712. Thanks to Art for quietly encouraging me when I popped up o...

. . . take a bow - you deserve the credit. From now on, you'll be known as The Instigator. In the nicest way possible, of course.

THE INSTIGATOR

Thank you Esharp! 🎩

I had a very good impression from the watch seeing your pictures of it, but when I straped it on my wrist the magic began πŸ˜€. A supeb Onega. Best of luck to you and me πŸ˜€ for a Japan version!

This looks prestine, congratulations Count.

Thank you my friend! πŸ‘

You have vor a good observation: the watch looks like new indeed.

Congratulations on a beautiful timepiece

By: Time to watch : February 26th, 2021-11:01
Particularly fetching in rose gold. Love the dial balance and mix of Roman and dot indices. Enjoy in good health always H.

Thank you Thornteq: you are very correct about the mix of dots and numerals.

By: COUNT DE MONET : February 26th, 2021-11:19
This dial has got so many faces: amazing. The dots even don't sparkle at the same time like the roman numerals so.

Big congrats dear Count. This is a wonderful timepiece indeed. You join our friends in owning this historical and beautiful piece. Well done.

Enjoy it so much and in the best of good health my dear friend Moritz! Abel

I was just browsing on an AD's preowned site and found it!

By: COUNT DE MONET : February 26th, 2021-13:01
Thankfully our dear Art and Esharp have introduced this watch recently, so it was on my mind. Lucky this place is existing πŸ˜€. Stay safe and enjoy your weekend, dear Abel.

That was a most lucky find my dear friend. Yes, agree with you that this place is wonderful and full of inspirations and temptations!!

Enjoy your new watch and your week end too my dear friend Moritz! Best, Abel

Yes! As Art said, I too remember the strong interest in these pieces about 20 years ago.

 By: CR : February 27th, 2021-07:20
The dial on your beautiful rose gold watch is aesthetically perfect. Such a pleasure to see! You're fortunate to have found such a great piece. I got the poor man's version, with no regrets, shortly after I became smitten with your version. ...
