I need advice

I see a 1949 2505-8 with the 265 movement.

Where to look at?
How are the parts availability in the EU?
How to recognize Frankensteins?
Which year of production of ref 2505-8 are the best?
Important, how to wind? Are they sensitive when wound to almost the maximum spring maximum or can a resistance felt when almost to the end of winding?

Finally, a cal 333 in my collection . . .

. . . ca '49, powering a ref 2493. This addition essentially completes my Omega chronometer collection - every chronometer movement except one is now represented. Cal 333 was available only in four references: 2493, 2515, 2519, and 2657. (It may also have...

Congratulations are in order.

Quite a collection you’ve assembled of Omega chronometers. Of course, hurray Yankees.

Just saw the slim odds of my Raiders winning the Superbowl next month . . .

. . . so chances are it's going to be another season of frustration. As for the Dodgers, decades of near misses and utter failures have hardened my sensibilities. No tears shed if they lose again. 😢

A dial view will have to wait until the watch is back home . . .

. . . a few months from now, judging by my watchmaker's usual turnaround. It's immaculate, that much I can say. Art

Congrats!

Lovely watch and one marking quite a collecting milestone.

The list of chronometer movements in my collection . . .

 By: Dr No : January 15th, 2022-03:13
. . . is: 30T2rg manual wind 30T2SCrg manual wind 28.10 JUB bumper auto 333 bumper auto 343 bumper auto 352 bumper auto 504 full rotor auto 505 full rotor auto 602 manual wind I'm not collecting later auto chronometers, although there's an opening for a c...

Owning every movement is still a pretty lofty goal

Considering just how many omega made! Congrats again

Wow, looks great.

Congratulations on the latest addition to your impressive collection.

Hoping to add at least one more chronometer reference, 2410, to . . .

 By: Dr No : January 15th, 2022-03:23
. . . my collection at some point. That's the toughest nut to crack: they rarely show up, and when they do, more often than not compromised beyond the point of acceptability. Here's a photo of a ref 2410 . . . . . . with an incorrect seconds hand and crow...

Wow. Much to know.

There are five 30T2rg's in my collection, Nicolas - four ref 2364 . . .

. . . and a ref 2366, which is now at my watchmaker's for corrections to the keyless works. A correct tap 6 crown tube and original stem combined with a vintage Hamilton crown will soon be winding the movement. A prior watchmaker made alterations to fit a...

that ratchet wheel...

Art, did you already replace the ratchet wheel? It hurts my eyes when I see this on an otherwise well preserved chronometre movement. They can be found every now and then...

Unfortunately I don't have an image of the movement after it was serviced, Erich . . .

 By: Dr No : January 17th, 2022-10:32
. . . but did see it a few days ago on my watchmaker's bench and don't recall the mess that's evident in the seller's photo. I'll take a pic of it when it's ready and post it in a reply so that you'll have a view of the movement in its current state. Best...

Parts availability for cal 265 is still good . . .

 By: Dr No : January 15th, 2022-10:42
. . . so no worries on that account, Weems. Please post photos of the watch so that I can assess originality. As for year of production, there are many dial variations . . . it really comes down to a matter of taste. Any 2505 is better than no 2505.

333 was used in ref 2500

 By: mac_omega : January 17th, 2022-08:17
Art, cal. 333 was used in ref. 2500 for sure - I have got one in my collection and I have seen others... regards Erich

Thanks for the confirmation, Erich. I recalled seeing cal 343 movements installed . . .

. . . in late production ref 2499, but my memory was hazy as to whether there were later production ref 2500 fitted with cal 333. Here's a pic of my ref 2499 . . . . . . and of the cal 28.10 JUB movement after servicing . . . . . . as well as . . . . . . ...
