I got the same email last year after missing out on the 1st Speedy Tuesday watch
Jul 11, 2018,11:42 AM
since it was released when my part of the world was asleep.
I was also told via an email from Mr. Aeschlimann that I would get "priority" for the 2018 iteration of the ST watch. After a few weeks I thought nothing of it as all new pieces of the ST1 watch were allocated and sold out as far as I knew.
Fast forward:
This year the only way I knew something new was coming was I got an email from Omega a few hours before the release of the Speedy Tuesday "Ultraman" with a hint showing a picture of the orange sweep along with the hour and minute hands. And my IG feed also showed the same pictures. So I had a hunch and stayed up late (I mean way past 3 am late). I'm located in the West Coast of the USA btw.
I kept refreshing Omega's site as well as Fratello's site. Finally, Fratello's site pushed out a post with the reveal of the watch along with the link to pre-order one. My first click on the link and I was allocated #0833. Stupid me as I took too long looking for other numbers that were available that the 5 min timer ran out and then the watch was unavailable. I kept refreshing the page and was told all watches were already allocated. Boy was I pi$$3d!
Finally, on one of the refresh clicks I got lucky I guess as another watch became available and this time I was able to confirm reservation for it. It's watch #14XX
For me it was just a hunch and some dumb luck that got me one.
I don't like this guerrilla method of watch releases either as it's unfair to those in time zones where you're normally not even awake! Nor does it allow faithful fans and loyal customers who have spent thousands on Omega watches directly from their boutiques an opportunity to get one over the "speculator-flippers".
Unfortunately, this is the method they've chosen.
Those who feel "hurt" or really deeply about it I sympathize and one powerful way of showing disapproval is to "vote with your feet" and take your money elsewhere.
