Do not consider to send the watch to Omega - it might cost you more than the actual value of the watch.
Every well trained watchmaker can offer you a service for a fraction of those costs Omega asks.
I would have it locally done...
Pls post pictures of your inherited piece!

A quick update for everyone -- both watches are in the hands of a terrific local watchmaker to service (based on everyone's advice here). I also noted both movement numbers and case reference numbers. I was able to locate my the gents piece on their datab...
