Another winner from Omega

Thanks. Yes isn’t it?

1938! Buckle is original too. Discrete branding on this one.

Sublime! A very beautiful piece!

Not an Omega, but a vintage Damas on my wrist today. ...

Great looking piece. 1967?

 By: jlc.thomsen : March 12th, 2023-13:24

I'm not sure what year. All I know is mid sixties.

You seem to have some information on the model since you're guessing on a specific year. If so, please share! 😊

Thank you Orahu.

Is that a 1938 box?

 By: myles721 : March 12th, 2023-16:07

I don’t think it’s from that specific watch. Could be.

 By: jlc.thomsen : March 12th, 2023-17:32
But it’s correct for the period I think. Not a big deal. I would have bought it without the box. Just like the style og these old unpretentious boxes.

I just switched from a mid-'60s Seiko . . .

. . . to a mid-'40s Omega. Ref 2242, ca '43, fitted with an uncommon 18 jewel variant of the 30T2SC movement. A red star and radium hands make this one of my favorites. Congrats on scoring an original CK 859! And to have confirmation from Omega . . . pric...

Nice one Doc. Such a character.

Thanks for the kind words. I was lucky. I am not an expert like you but I fell for that CK on the spot.

Argentina seems to be a good country for time capsules. Christian Lass who restored my Universal CP-2 movement found a UN donor chronograph from Argentina. The gold case had been sold during some trying times in Argentina and the movement was immaculate. ...

Yes, it´s true that Argentina was a wealthy country many decades ago and here arrived tons of great watches. Regrettably nowadays many vintage pieces went to Europe and USA...

... taking advantage of the raise in prices of good pieces and the knowledge spread thanks to Internet and specialized media. But from time to time some pieces are found. About the watch you found as donor of its movement: During the many economic crisis ...

Yes you’re probably right.

Lady luck + good collector friends + a few other magic spices in the mix. Love your country . Was in BA just once 12 years ago on business. Remember the taxis, the tango music everywhere and the amount of Italian you could get by with. 😊

Agree that Lady Luck is part of the mix and other magic spices are part of the recipe. Interesting to know you had visited us and have nice memories of your experience here.

You mention some of the things which characterize our Capital City. We are descendants of a mixture of mostly Italians and Spaniards arriving in the last part of XIX and beginings of the XX Centuries almost in equal percentages and it keeps today showing ...
