Comparing the two would be a long discussion . . .

. . . and involve history as much as technical distinctions.  Let it suffice to say a cal 321 movement has the same allure as, say, a Porsche 911S engine.

Old school, way cool, and good enough for a trip to the moon.  Given the choice between the two, it's the 321 for me.  Your mileage may vary.

Sweet :)

Very sweet indeed! Cheers, and much joy to you Art, Filip

This is almost like seeing two Stones shows . . .

. . . back to back. Almost, but not quite.

This one looks spectacular Art! Did you have to wait long for the Ed White?

Apologies for the stupid question but for a non omega expert like myself, I actually prefer the Ed White speedy over the normal model but is the price different justified?

My wait, from the day I placed the order . . .

. . . until today, was 14+ months. My nephew Serj has been on the list for two months, but it's doubtful he'll see his for five years, according to OB staff. As to whether Ed White is priced appropriately: they're going for a 50% markup on the secondary m...

. . . as it still has to be sized. I'll be taking it back to the boutique Monday for fitting, probably waiting 'til Wednesday to post a wrist shot as that's when I'm close to the Pacific - gotta have a dramatic backdrop for Ed! Art

I see. Can’t wait! Congrats!

Gorgeous movement!

My watchmaker said it had never been serviced . . .

 By: Dr No : June 12th, 2022-01:39
. . . but it had been 'looked at' by a watchmaker after it was sold. There were a few minor marks on the bridges and screws, with no watchmaker's inscriptions on the case back. This example really belongs in the Omega Museum. Best, Art

Nah

It belongs on your wrist!

. . . and my wrist is where it will be and remain . . .

Looks brand spanking new!

Someone needs to make a sapphire caseback for this gem. Really beautiful, Art, congrats!

For all intents and purposes, it is . . .

It's a great day when . . .

. . . two Omegas roll in, and both are gems in their own right. 😌

That is a nice movement!

Definitely needs a sapphire back!

I haven't given the notion of a commissioned sapphire back much thought . . .

. . . but the ref 2493 is a screw-back so it's a possibility. Art

… is this a 342 chronometre ? It deserves some extra shots front view! I wonder which straps you’ll fit on this one! Enjoy it so much my dear friend! Abel

 By: mac_omega : June 14th, 2022-07:00
Sorry to contradict - cal 342 is not a chronometre movement. A cal. 343 would be but I expect rather a cal 333 due to the larger size of the case. Omega database lists a 332 for this case reference which is non chronometre. I assume this case reference mi...

. . . misled. Ref 2493 chronometers are extremely uncommon . . . most examples are unrated. Best, Art ...

Beautiful Art!! Thank you for sharing a front shot!

Big congrats on your double arrival my friend!! Cheers! Abel

. . . the movement is a caliber 333, which might be even scarcer than caliber 343. For those not versed in vintage Omega, cal 333 was employed in a few references, late production 2500 Centenaries and references 2515 and 2519, as well as 2493. I've seen o...
