But size and cost may count against?
And if watchmakers don't start getting the message that 42mm-48mm diameters are unacceptable for 90% of the population.... they deserve the tsunami that's coming 🌊

Omega De Ville Central Tourbillon

I had the idea to write this post after seeing that close to nobody is talking about how great this watch is. What you get is a timepiece that can rival the best independents in terms of both finishing and technical mastery. The coolness factor of the flo...

Monochrome recently didn’t an in-depth atelier visit and report on this technical masterpiece.

To me, it’s the best of both worlds (independent finishing and co-axial reliability and reduced serviceability and omega 5 year warranty). The one minute Tourbillion part is impressive too. If I had the money, and could wear gold, I’d get it as my only wa...

I saw the Monochrome video too

It's interesting to see how Omega operates without budget restrictions. A grey ceramic version would be my favorite.

Omega Central Tourbillon …

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this technical tour de force being made and discussing it with the watchmaker. It’s a very small team of dedicated and highly skilled watchmakers.

What a treat!

I'd love to visit omega

You really should …

If you can, as IMHO many opinions are formed without actually seeing, handling the product and discussing the process in person with the maker.

Absolutely!

I'll try to book a trip as soon as I get some free time

It's quite rare too...

It seems to never come up in the wild

For your eyes...

...

Gorgeous! What a grail!

 By: andrea~ : August 14th, 2022-18:40

Oh yes!

 By: amanico : August 14th, 2022-21:16

I know someone who knows someone . . .

 By: Dr No : August 16th, 2022-00:31
. . . who owns one. Who knows, maybe someone #1 can be persuaded to ask someone #2 for a few in-the-metal shots. It won't hurt to ask . . .

That would be great

 By: andrea~ : August 16th, 2022-07:30
How would one go about persuading #1 to ask #2 for some shots? 😜

Marcellus Wallace . . .

 By: Dr No : August 16th, 2022-17:58
. . . said it best. I'm on it. Trust me.

LOL!

Definitely underrated

I like the concept since years but somehow the complete package never convinced me. Dirk

I tend to agree

 By: andrea~ : August 14th, 2022-12:56
The rose gold doesn't do it for me

As an Omega enthusiast I would like to see them develop this model the way Nardin promoted the Freak. This has the potential for cult status…

 By: myles721 : August 14th, 2022-12:28
but Omega needs to do more work supporting these projects. They fail where AP, Nardin and Mille succeed.

The biggest obstacle is overcoming the perception of Omega being entry level luxury

 By: andrea~ : August 14th, 2022-12:57
Most people would rather buy a PP for that money

Completely agree..

 By: myles721 : August 14th, 2022-13:13
They do have some outrageously expensive pieces (some ironically that far exceed Rolex) and some very devoted collectors but they lack the buzz that a AP Black Panther or Daytona Cosmograph can garner…this IMO has a lot to do with where the pieces are pla...

It's true

 By: andrea~ : August 14th, 2022-13:52
But I also like how Omega is not as popular and hyped. It allows me and other collectors to buy and enjoy their watches without having to worry about waiting lists and unwanted attention.

Agree…

 By: myles721 : August 14th, 2022-14:06
I think a lot may have to do how Omega plays our inevitable return to the surface of the moon…quite a marketing set up…

Not bad at all, indeed.

 By: amanico : August 14th, 2022-17:26

That would be great

 By: andrea~ : August 14th, 2022-18:41

I gave it a thought to get a tourbillon to my collection then I saw the price....

 By: Dchang81 : August 15th, 2022-01:25
This and the ultralight seem awesome but priced out of my budget.

There's a lot to like here...

They used to make these in 38.7mm cases

 By: andrea~ : August 15th, 2022-11:07
Way better proportioned

Agreed . . .

 By: Dr No : August 16th, 2022-00:29
. . . in full. A third generation central like this would've been even more compelling with a black dial decked in rose gold, in my humble opinion. ...

That's a beauty!

 By: andrea~ : August 16th, 2022-07:28
I hope to be able to buy one in the future, they are quite a bargain

My view on watches.

 By: guycord : August 15th, 2022-13:02
I think there is only 3 things to consider in buying owning a watch....whether this watch, a Casio or something unbelievably high-end. 1. Do you like it enough to buy? 2. Can you afford it? 3. Can you acquire it? Anything else, size, brand, taste etc........

Great points, Guy.
