thanks Art....ok well when you just consider new apparently omega gives only two choices:

1) hesalite crystal with closed caseback OR
2) sapphire crystal with transparent caseback and

And the bracelet only costs $100 more?

With Delrin brake or metal brake


I guess I haven’t been on the omega website in awhile; as when I last checked there were 10’s of iterations (Like 20+) for sale, but now it seems only 4, with the main difference between the two is above and bracelet vs croc...

I do realize now that asking an open ended question to a forum of experts maybe unfair and un realistic without being more specific.

So I have the suggestion of what I would recommend if he purchased new;

with regards to all the other iterations out there ... I wouldn’t know where to start, but to the layperson all those lovely nuances that the purists would appreciate wouldn’t be worth it the layperson.

Let me ask a less nuanced question; is there a (as sold) reference that has the moonwatch with sapphire crystal and transparent case back with a simple box or less accessories that maybe cheaper than new? I know my friend’s budget 😂.

Or should I stick to recommending new and negotiating specifically about the reference as offered on omegas current website? Or are there any other older references I could search on a website like Chrono24
