Just a lowly 2019 Speedy here to start the week

Nothing exciting compared to the new one I guess, but I do love this watch. Mine has proven extremely accurate. I love the dial and bracelet. I'm not at all tempted to trade into the updated model. But maybe add a Canopus? I can see that possibility. Have...

Yes.

Was not a conscious decision to have it in the background, it just is.

A Canopus, Michael? Now, that's what I call . . .

. . . a serious decision. Could be an exit strategy. 😃 Also wearing an Omega, but an eighty year old ref MI 2214. This is an old pic . . . will have a fresh image up tomorrow. Art ...

In two words, yes . . .

. . . but . I was about to pop for a Sedna before coming to grips with how often I'd be able to wear it. That's gotta be a factor to consider: how often would you get to wear a precious metal Speedy? Especially considering the line of work you're in, work...

That' a great point, and one I think about.

I'm generally not into precious metals, I just adore this dial. Perhaps there are some other similar older models I could hunt. Also, is the essence of an Omega Speedmaster at all related to a precious metal? You have a steel one, and it seems you are all...

Have you considered the white dial Speedy that was made for the Italian market . . .

. . . in the '90s to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of CK2915? Look for ref 3593.20. Steel, probably a third the cost of Canopus. Art

Here's an image of a ref 3593.20 obtained thru Google search . . .

. . . from the website of a second-hand dealer. All the design cues of a Speedmaster with black and white dial elements inverted. Hesalite crystal and sapphire display back, too. A significant upside is that the cal 1863 movement can be serviced by any wa...

That is attractive!

Thanks for the tip, Art.

Indeed. I am so happy for owners of the new one.

But this is the kind of watch where they are all great, no matter the generation.

That is definitely it.

And it goes to my point on another forum about the dial name not mattering... for guys like us, it really does not. This Omega gives me the same pleasure to wear as any other I have, regardless of cost / value / "pedigree".

Absolutely, my friend.
