Omega Chronometer Ref 2366. Too bad it had a refinished dial.

My heart started to beat faster when I saw this 2366. Sadly, the dial was redone, beautifully redone, yes, but redone. The big pro of this reference is that it is a big case ( 35, 5 mm ). Which looks even bigger in the real. The other big advantage is tha...

Splendid piece...

...if only the dial had not been redone as you said. What a pity it would have been sompuous :-(

I'm not sure how the dial looked before hand.......

But I like/prefer the re-finished look of this one. I'm a novice when it comes to vintage pieces, why are re-finished dials in general so bad? Tony

Here's a quick 'n dirty of my ref 2366, Tony . . .

. . . acquired from the estate of the original owner. Hunting down an 18/15 strap to fit a 15 mm Ω buckle . . . hope to have one soon. There were more issues with this one than expected, but at least it's running ok now. Art ...

That's a beauty Art!...............

I'm guessing that dial is unfinished? It looks great for its age. In any event I have my 2nd vintage piece potentially on the way, I'll make sure to get good details on the condition of the dial before I buy it. I'm really having fun learning the vintage ...

That's an untouched dial, Tony . . .

. . . other than scratches inflicted by an incompetent watchmaker in the past. Going vintage, eh? You'll never go back!

There are issues with this specimen, including filing of the case . . .

. . . to accommodate a modified crown (which was soldered to the stem, if I recall my watchmaker's comment correctly). The roller table and balance staff were replaced, as well as the crystal. Fortunately, my watchmaker had all parts in stock, so it was a...

Simple and pure !

Had the chance to handle one last year, very charming!

Especially for you, Nicolas - a side-by-side . . .

. . . of printed Roman ref 2366 (left) . . . . . . and equivalent ref 2364. 35.5 mm vs 33 . . . otherwise identical in every respect. After a few days on my wrist, still not sure as to which I prefer . . . ...

I'd rather have a ref 2410, Nicolas . . .

 By: Dr No : September 17th, 2018-12:26
. . . but honestly, after wearing the 2366 for several days, unsure if another jumbo reference is really necessary. One may be enough. My targets now are, in descending order: a ref 3950 chronometer, a black ref 2515, one of the Japan market two-tone Conn...

Wow, this Connie!!! [nt]

Ref 168.005, one of two variations . . .

 By: Dr No : September 17th, 2018-13:15
. . . produced for Japan in '68/'69, if memory serves correct. Either works, but the first works better. ;-) ...

Agreed. The first is top! [nt]
