Panerai PAM 997: The Good Green dialed Radiomir?

 By: amanico : August 4th, 2019-02:52
A few weeks ago, Panerai unveiled a series of Radiomir 1940 Green Dial. The two which caught my eyes are the 995 we already saw, and the 997. The PAM 995 for the record: Two very different watches, despite their green dial. The 995 is 45 mm big, 12, 2 mm ...

Really a fan of many panerai models...

And this ceramic with green dial is no exception. Only problems for me is the 47mm... wish it was 40-42... in some cases even their 44mm works for me but above that very hard for me to adjust. 17.5cm wrist and 186cm tall yet I feel too small for 47mm...

At a recent panerai event I tried this one...

New case material new blue dial... very pretty I thought... had it been smaller perhaps I would have placed an order for my first Pam... Really cool I thought: ...

Agree on that on many of their references...

Still one ref which haunts me is the 192... if I ever get a first Pam this may be it... but want to try one first... or at least find out how much it weighs...

I had it and stupidly sold it...

...

Looks so good this one...

Hope to encounter one someday...

Doable. [nt]

Clearly. [nt]

I agree, but with all that were made there wasnā€™t one in 44mm that I thought was interesting enough to buy.

A 44mm Sub was my first Panerai, itā€™s long gone but the last three or four years Iā€™ve been waiting for them to come with something cool in the 44mm range.

Personally think

The newly released carbotech in 42mm is quite cool... my only issue was the thickness of the rubber strap on both sides of the case, feels like protrudes a bit much but perhaps with a flatter strap... ...

Cool one, indeed. [nt]

The 997 would have been perfect if...

By: India Whiskey Charlie : August 11th, 2019-17:27
It was 47 mm and it didn't have a running seconds sub dial.

Based strictly on aesthetics...

By: India Whiskey Charlie : August 12th, 2019-07:21
The sub dial is too small, disproportional to the dial's scale and too close to 9 o'clock. The 995 is far more balanced in this respect.

go for the 995 with the beige canvas strap

I got this 2 weeks back and canā€™t take it off. Amazing how careful matching of a strap changes the whole experience!

I like the SS version.

A 42 mm case would be nice. Vte

Hello, i like a lot the 997, the dark color of the ceramic case go very well with the green military of the dial ... And i prefer the P3000 than a automatic mouvement ...

My only question is about the 48 mm case , i have to try but the 47 mm go very well on my wrist !!

Dear friend, I donā€™t mean to be unpolite but I have a question for you...

 By: mywrongwrist : October 12th, 2019-06:46
... how you can consider the 3mm more on the dial ok for the second sub-dial, while in the same time considering 1mm for the case a potential problem of wearability since 47mm you said is OK I tried both watches in the Panerai boutique here in Milan, 997 ...

I was used to 47 mm Panerai cases, Luca. I wore them for many years. But it is not far from being a maximum. So, maybe 1 mm more is too much. I really have to try it.

If you are after something more classic, the PAM 372 is THE beast. The 372 is hard to beat, in my opinion. The PAM 997 could well be a top second one. Ciao, amico. Nicolas

17,5-18 [nt]

Aaah, mine is 17 cm. [nt]

 By: amanico : October 12th, 2019-08:55

Bit I believe it has to be taken into account also the shape and not only the size of the wrist...

 By: mywrongwrist : October 12th, 2019-12:48
... somebody maybe have a 18 wrist more rounded and most probably the lugs will go outside the wrist, someone else could have a more flat wrist even 17, with the lugs fitting perfectly Imho Iā€™ll post some pics after the boutique visit Ciao Luca

Have you already bought it?

Or just tried it? Best, Thomas

Are you going to

 By: MTR : October 12th, 2019-10:04
pull the trigger? šŸ˜Š

Much as I believe that....

 By: sergio : October 12th, 2019-14:16
a 47mm case in a Panerai is "just right", I'm also convinced that the right 45mm's model does fit the wrist just as nicely.

Yes. But as well in general.

 By: Ahoi : October 13th, 2019-00:43
To me the 997 doesnā€™t look bigger than a 47mm Pam. As it black is looks anyhow a bit smaller. Isnā€™t it always the same discussion in between 47mm

Yes, always better

 By: Ahoi : October 13th, 2019-01:36
...

Honestly looking at your pics (btw thanks) the visual effect at least to me is that the size of the two PAM is...

 By: mywrongwrist : October 14th, 2019-00:29
... almost the same For sure a big role is played by the different materials of the cases May I politely ask how did you feel the black ā€œmonsterā€ on your wrist Looking forward to hearing from you, I thank you in advance I wish you a good day, my friend Be...

There is a big difference in between the 2.

 By: Ahoi : October 17th, 2019-16:48
The 995 with its 45mm appears as well small(er) like a 45mm suppose to do. Itā€™s a kind of dresser. The 997 has a ā€žnormal ā€žPanerai appearance. It still look good on the wrist . So itā€™s a matter of which Look you prefer. ...

Excluding Pre Vendome and Vintage

What would be your Panerai if you can have one or two Panerai?

PAM997 caught my eye today

 By: Cookies : June 12th, 2021-15:37
But I have not tried it yet. It looked like a beast at 48mm. I thought it was some DLC coated piece at first glance, and didnā€™t try it. Now I have to try it, after reading your post on it. I donā€™t know why people say Panerai is ā€œdeadā€. To me, it still mak...
