I never did fancy the crown guard on Panerais despite it being their trademark, it only adds bulk to an already large case. I guess that's why I only ever really liked a couple watches from their entire offering .

that closely. The Marina Militare, is the clincher for me (I DID serve in the Italian Navy, during my..then compulsory..national service) I will receive the 673 next thrusday and have a closer look at both the dials, though.

This ticks a lot of boxes for me. Is the case exactly the same as that of the 372, or like the Fiddy?

I've had my eye on a 587 for a while, especially with the recent, beautiful photographs of this watch here -- but the 673 has its charms too. For those who were on the fence regarding one or the other, what did you finally decide, and do you prefer one or... 

But if I had to choose only one, I would probably go for the 587. Unless I go for the 662, then in this case, I'd pick the 673 to diversify the cases. Best, Nicolas

I'm new to Panerai so am just learning the history, but given that the 587 is a Radiomir 1940 case, isn't this ideal for the Marina Militare designation since the Italian Navy made its name in WWII? Maybe this is irrelevant or I'm missing something but th... 

If you really..really, wanted to nitpick, you could draw the line between pre-bellic/bellic production (2533-3646 models) and post bellic one (6154-6152/6152-1 cases). There is no post-bellic models that "deserves" the Marina Militare wording more than an... 

Is there a case type for which the Marina Militare wording does make the most sense (e.g., pre-bellic wire lugs, 1940s, 1950s) or is the wording equally applicable to any case type?

stereotype model, in the Panerai production. Nowadays the wording only..celebrates..the long standing relationship between the two parties. PAM36 and PAM82 and PAM339 are a practical proof of this

Both the 587 and 673 are beautiful watches. A difficult choice, made easier by the fact that it's pretty hard to find a new 587 at this time! It was also about $1,000 less expensive, if I recall.

these models are for grassroots/die-hard Paneristi, not for "turists" that buy watches just because they like them or because the colour of the strap, matches the colour of their...socks...at the moment of the purchase. That's why they make them in...Limi...
