Recommendation for you...

Try "The Burger Joint".  It's in the Parker Meridien Hotel on 56th street, between 6th and 7th.  It's just past the reception desk.  No sign.  No advertising.  Make a left past reception where you see this blue curtain.  Down the narrow hallway.  It was dead-space.  Not really usable space.  So they tried out this little burger concession.  Over 20 years later and its the best known secret in New York.  Get the Cheeseburger rare/medium rare with everything, fries and a shake.  Will be ~$15.  Not Parker Meridien prices.  I think its the best burger I've eaten.  I like my burgers with slightly toasted flimsy buns, and nice juicy meat.  Great shakes and awesome fries.  My personal opinion.  And after your burger you can walk over to 5th ave and hit the Patek Salon in Tiffany's (Mezzaine Floor), the Patek Salon at Wempe (55th and 5th) and the Wempe Rolex shop on 53rd and 5th.  You can finish up with a Chocolate Frappe and Mendiant at La Maison du Chocolat on 49th between 5th and 6th and pop into Christie's across the street.  Have fun.

echelons of NYC burger scene, to be sure. Personally, I've always been partial to the ones of Jackson Hole. That being said, choosing between the two, for me, it's like choosing between a PAM002 and a PAM009, can't lose

I actually live in NYC, so I’m familiar with everything you mentioned and totally agree with all your recs! The Burger Joint has been flawlessly executed—it has that awesome ‘gross sticky’ feel of an underground bar but smack in the middle of an upscale h...
