Made my own strap, made me fall in love with PAM again

I hardly ever wore the 590 that I acquired almost 7 years ago because I had it on the OEM assolutamente strap which was thick and also somehow slighty itchy for me.

Skip to March this year, I decided to learn how to make watch straps after being told that I have to wait 6 months for a Patek 5235g OEM strap (I ordered and still yet to receive it haha).

In the meantime, I made a strap for the 5235 already but I'm more satisfied with this Barenia one for my PAM because it completely changes my perception of the watch from being an unergonomic, unwearable steel block to something I enjoy wearing a lot as a daily driver.

I have played with the idea before as well but kudos for executing the deal, your strap and pam look fantastic! Do you have pics of the underside, out of curiosity? Do tell about the leather too if you don't mind and congrats to you!

Sure about info

Top side is Barenia from Haas tannery. My wife was brave to get a Barenia Birkin because it patinas unlike Epsom or Togo but it's just classic imo. I also tapered the strap quite a bit to make the watch feels less of a hunk. Starts at 3.75mm to 2mm. Under...

Thank you

I don't understand what's the wait for PP strap wait. It's not as if the outsourced company is churning out super high quality handmade item either. I had to bite because I stupidly threw away the white gold spring bars and PP won't let you buy a new set ...

Almost all YouTube but paid CHF300 for an online tutorial

So to answer your question, yes I learnt it by myself via trial and error method. YouTube can get you to OEM quality level but paid tutorial is for the tip and tricks to make things look nicer.

Haha, thank you for the compliment.

Funnily enough I learnt photography from a watch brand owner (who also used to participate in this forum) probably like some of the other members here.

Wonderful!

What a great initiative! That's awesome and judging from the strap...you have quite the competence in making straps. Looks wonderful!

Thank you

Frustrations along the way for sure but leather work/hobby is relatively easy to improve quickly because the trial and error process has low cost of error.

Congratulations!!! You’re a pro!!!

Can I order one for my 111, please? It is remarkable how the right strap does the difference when you have lost interest in your watch. Congrats again! Best. René

I have a couple of friends....

frequenting another forum, that out of the blue, decided to make their own straps and turned the "hobby" into a cozy activity that gets them "pizza money". This one looks very good. Congratulations...
