Tough call but no date would be my preference

They made a non date 424 too, although not the most desirable execution of the cali dial. I would personally go 425 or 210 over these two.

Date on a cali = sacrilege

 By: Arronax : May 4th, 2020-21:17
Will be the overwhelming response from Panerai owners. Bottom line: if you want a date there are better options, if you want a cali there are also better options, leaves the date 424 in a niche position but if you don't care and it makes you happy then go...

Thanks. I didn't know about date abhorrence with Paneristis.

610 is a sandwich dial and with wired lugs as I understand. Thanks again for your opinion. Regards

As a Paneristi, I will tell you this

I am the owner of 424 date. It is a beautiful watch, but with time you'll get pissed about date window. Yes, it's functional, but I suggest you the one without date. I hate the fact Panerai stamp "8 days" on the dial. Once I see "automatic" or "8 days" si...

Noted Sir. Thanks I'll keep your observation in mind.

Just for curiosity sake, how big your 424 is on wrist. What's size of your wrist? Thanks again for helping me. Regards

I fully share your view.

Maybe he should look around unless the opportunity is super good. There is a risk that the date will piss him off. Still that model is quite nice and unique ... as it have the date. So it’s not too bad

To me.....

choosing between the two would be like choosing between rubella and the measels. In the PAM424 the date and the logo are unacceptable! As for the PAM610 the ENGLISH wording 8 days is also...oh yuck!!!! Funny people like me, who actually LIKE Panerai, don'...

Noted and accepted the valued verdict.

πŸ™πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ I'm running away from them!! Thanks for saving me from being ridiculed and embarrassment later and saving money too in this era of economic uncertainty. Regards

To add some Radiomirs:

721,720, 232, 249, ...

Wise decision IMO....

 By: sergio : May 5th, 2020-03:23
on the other hand, if you were to find a 45mm, Radiomir PAM210 NOS..at a price that's acceptable for you, BUY it immediately, before the seller changes his-her mind

Noted Sir with Bold letters.

I'll start my search for that and would revert back to you as soon as I get one. Thanks again for your esteemed and very considerate advise. Regards

Just last attempt to see if I can salvage something from this dealer

 By: Pun : May 5th, 2020-05:31
PAM 372, 424 (no date), 572 and 619 are also available with the dealer. Is any of them worth spending, if getting a good deal, as first Panerai? Thank you all for taking your time in educating me here. I'm obliged. Regards ...

I agree with Nicolas....

 By: sergio : May 5th, 2020-07:10
among the ones itemized, 372 all the way! One thing, forget about costs, resale values, collection considerations. Buy to keep or buy some other brand.

Boss I've already told the dealer and am negotiating the price now. Will try best to close the deal. Market price otherwise is very soft at present [nt]

 By: Pun : May 5th, 2020-09:48
You both for convincing me to take a genuinely serious Panerai. I had some reservations about the crown lock that is very prominent as per my taste. But now I feel I must have it. πŸ’–

as above.......

 By: neville : May 5th, 2020-10:02
of the 4 the dealer has the 372 is the one to have, iconic.

De gustibus non est disputandum.....

 By: sergio : May 5th, 2020-13:26
used to say my Roman ancestors=personal taste cannot be censored. Reality, though, says that the 424 with the date was produced for less than I year. The response of the market was so...catastrophic...that they discontinued the production of this model in...

I've read 424 with date was introduced in 2012 and in 2014 Panerai introduced same reference without date. It baffled me for some time that why same reference has both versions.

 By: Pun : May 5th, 2020-19:04
Panerai perhaps wanted us to forget date version as it was a fiasco. PAM 424 with date version might also be a gold mine in future as very limited pieces were made and a blunder by a brand like Panerai may fetch dividend in distant future. Who knew in 196...

Another question, sir. Since this watch is lying with the dealer for last 6-7 years unsold, whether I can wear it as it is or get the service done first. I'll be getting AD stamp etc in current date with warranty from brand.

 By: Pun : May 5th, 2020-19:26
What normally is the service interval for this movement? Or unless something wrong, I just forget the service part? I need opinion on that as well. Regards

If the watch is NOS, it shouldn't have the original guarantee...

 By: sergio : May 5th, 2020-20:37
since as far as Panerai is concerned, it was ALREADY sold to a 3rd party, right? The A.D. will have to provide you with their guarantee (unless they can "reactivate" the original one, through Panerai). Furthermore, a watch is not an automobile. It doesn't...

My friend, I've asked him to give me 50% less list price. He has come down to 35%.

 By: Pun : May 6th, 2020-00:31
Still waiting him to further reduce prices. He may come down little more. It's plexiglass one so before s series number. Richemont service in India is not very good and I've heard many international traveler complaining about their watches serviced here i...

There is a Catch-22 sir

 By: Pun : May 7th, 2020-08:21
There is another issue cropped up, that is of warranty, the AD is not able to offer me that. The box papers and other accessories are there but he won't extend warranty at the price I've finally negotiated. It's practically 40% less the list price. A Catc...

The PAM424 model....

 By: sergio : May 5th, 2020-20:31
was listed in the inventory, that doesn't mean they actually produced it routinely. Panerai and Rolex have...nothing...in common with one another, don't make the mistake to compare apples with...pears, lest you get seriously burned. There are beautiful ra...

My 931 is on the way and will be delivered to me by June 15th.

 By: Pun : May 20th, 2020-08:53
372 is available with sapphire glass instead of plexiglass. Is that worth buying or not. Regards

I've a very sad news to break...

 By: Pun : May 9th, 2020-02:37
My dealer opened his shop after 2 months so that he could deliver me 372 and it was not there. He told me that it was in his online inventory stock but somehow it was sold by some sales person who forgot to update stock. He has 610 and others but now all ...

Thanks for responding sir. I was so committed to that watch that the news was very disturbing to me.

 By: Pun : May 9th, 2020-07:50
Now in hindsight I realize that a fortnight back Panerai was a brand that had nothing for me. It represented thick and ugly watches, especially their crown lock system was so grossly protruding. And after I started a thread here, among Panerai connoisseur...

I would rather get a 673 as a 372

 By: Ahoi : May 20th, 2020-11:29
i am not the biggest fan of the 372. It’s a nice watch and many like them. If u want a purist look u should get one with plexiglass to the get the patina on it .
