Historian? Nah, it's only that some people have missed The Boat

In those difficult times of economies everyone tries to stay afloat. In that second version of the book we can find the endless crew of ghosts, the authors liberty to share photos of others together with some strange mismatch presentations.

Even making residence right on top of the Bermuda triangle the crew on that ship will sadly never disappeared. The ghosts busting crew’s activity will always fail because most of those spectrums the crew is hunting are from another dimension.

In short, from Italy all has already been written by famous brands specialists, journalists and the first edition of the 150 years of Panerai History.  The rest of Panerai watches history is passionately reported by others who are continuously digging.

The last people involved at Officine Panerai were destined to it only from 1971. Up until 1997 their knowledge about watches was thin (for not saying ‘zero’) because from 1971 to 80’s the so called ‘watch department’ was the very last of their priorities, and for most if not all, completely unattractive, this explaining the few unsuccessful prototypes which were made in the early 80’s. It is only because of this company tough financial times of the late 80’s, and thanks to the second man in charge together with a talented and bright engineer (who did not want to reinvent the world) that the 90’s watches ‘Pre-Vendome’ saw the light, however, commercially also turned a failure.

At the end of that time (1996-1997) the company could no longer stand, in a panic No.1 man decided to let go what to most was unimportant, ‘The Watch & Instrument department’… Time and expertise is since showing us how valuable an asset it is.

Concerning the watches and instruments, in the late 90’s till now only 2 people are capable of fine details of the last chapter 1971-1997 at Officine Panerai in Firenze and from those we rarely hear from one and never publicly from the other.  Only up until recently… every times questions were asked about the vintages pieces replies and conversation were pretty much empty and cut short, again safe from 2 people of the former Panerai.

So what is that second edition, a self invented profession? or are the maddof adopting?

Stephen,  however attractive it may be I am not sure it is a good idea for Panerai to probably re-invent their history in releasing an arguable historical watch which till now was never in use by the Marina Militare and is listed in the patrimony of Rolex only, unlike the 3646!

The histories of the historical watches are best directly sourced from; passionate collectors, military personals and achieves, 1 (available) ex-staff members and assured reliable parties.

Mind the orphans who are continuously searching a treasured family!

Chi va piano va sai e va lontano , Invece chi va veloce ‘finira quasi sempre la face al muro’ ;-)

Guido Panerai, remain in peace, your secrets are protected.

I never received any request of authorization to use my pics for this book.... And I've been told that I wasn' t the only one in this situation. As for the Panerai Vintage world, I can tell you that only 4 or 5 guys in the world know what it is, really. I...

The genuine story behind what Panerai is, is something that is almost impossible to fathom. I bet that even if you were to ask that 4 or 5 people who knows heaps about it, there is still this slight portion that is unfulfilled, that even they can't answer...

Thanks Stephen

Thanks for sharing Stephen. The book was presented by Mr. Paci himself here in Milan right before Christmas during an auction where a GPF2/56 and a very rare 6152 Marina Militare with see through back were sold. The same book was already printed and publi...

The problem with the history untold

 By: Guille : January 10th, 2010-17:24
The problem with the history untold is that it leaves many ready to make history. On this topic many have the last word, until the next one. Stephen, thanks for sharing, thanks for wanting to learn more and thanks for your patience.

It would be my honour Guille
