anymore. The ones that were around have been..chased away..by a decade of "stuff" they wouldn't even look at, let alone like or buy. If there still were some, they wouldn't buy a 911 at gunpoint Die-hard=steeped in tradition=history first etc etc etc. Even the "Fiddy" doesn't pass muster these days. I like mine because it has a "defacing" 1950 written on the dial and 1950 happens to be my birth year. I agree with Ahoi about the 1080. I might mention the 673 or the 587. Thas is because, to a die-hard fan of Panerai the lettering MARINA MILITARE on a model is irresistible, like honey for bears. All that being said, between the two, the Fiddy is the one that has more appeal to people that like Panerai. The 911 is for the tourists IMO of course

Let’s assume your wrist can accommodate both a 44 and 47mm. Both revered, Would you choose a 127 “Fiddy” or a 911 “Last One For Paneristi” — and why? ETA with short power reserve vs. significantly longer in house movement a factor? ...
“Fiddy”

1. Almost an exact replica of the Rolex 6152/1 used by Guenat SA in the early 1990’s 2. Beautiful domed sapphire crystal with that stunning visual distortions of the dial 3. 1950’s case 4. Sandwich dial 5. Gold hands 6. Dial color
1950

It’s a true classic icon that represents the best of Panerai design and yes it is an ETA movement, but actually Panerai modified it to resemble the original Rolex movement. Not that shabby at all and easy to service!

... and with regard to the in-house movement

I have had zero issues with the Unitas based movements in any of my Panerais and quite a few with the in-house ones. So another point for the 127 in my view. Best Andreas

The 911 has a really nice military green color scheme — but for that particular look I really like the non-Luminor … the Radiomir 995 with the domed crystal. A great looking duo! ...
