the absence of Marina Militare and the 9 on a black dial (instead of the opulent brown one of the 36) make the 40 a far less attractive model, for me. The Tritium indices and the 200 pieces, never compensated for the...losses..IMO

..and I couldn't agree with you more, from a strictly collectable point of view. It's just..this..particular model I don't like much at all.

Not quite. To set the record straight, though, there are 1500 PAM22 out there of which: 200-A series, 500-B series (some T-dialled some L-dialled), 500-C series and 300-D series. So, in general your assertion is incorrect since there are an awful lot of 2...
