When I first saw this dial.....

I forgot to..breathe. I'll contribute a nice picture of the "Admiral's model", which was produced at the request of an Italian Navy Admiral. I don't have an exact dating for the model but, since it has a luminor case, I guess would be...circa late 40s, 50s. The colour of the dial was riproduced in the PAM373, which was the FIRST commercial re-edition of the vintage models.

A cool picture of the very first Panerai, which is the Ref 2533.

Credit picture: Unknown, but I will happily credit on request. Well, Rolex for Panerai, as almost everything here is Rolex. But what a presence! Best, Nicolas ...

So funny you post this Nicolas because I was looking at this reference (or the newer version) lately and I really like it!

But don’t worry I will not add it to the collection just yet! Lol

Why not?

Not sure...sometimes buying to quickly too many watches has not always proven a good thing for me as later I realized this approach might not have been the best...

Also, I am tempted by the 425 but also the 685. Not sure which I should get if I only get one. Which one would you pick?

You have to forgive me....

but in my old age, I made the saying: keep it simple, into a cornerstone. S.Steel can be repaired easily and at costs that are affordable. Ceramic, on the other hand, it's a real nightmare, should it get damaged. There is no repair possible. The cost of a...

and all of my Panerais have been treated like "safe queens". Still and all, I've never even considered buying a ceramic model. I believe ceramic wear should be left to expert companies like Richard Ginori

Wow, that tells a whole story.

10 years ago I was in a minor car crash and had a piece of the crystal chip when it hit the driver side window once on a Bell & Ross. I thought that was bad, this picture is tough to look at, must have really hit it hard or on something very hard.

PAM 373 for me....

Even if the platinum case, makes it a bit expensive... ...

Agreed.

Frankenstein watch, actually rather Ferrettistein :D

The only part from a 2533 is the caseback. Everything else is a mix from later periods, the dial being from the late 1950s. Cheers Jose

Ferrettistein. :)))))
