2 marvels of Chronographs form the Past. Panerai PAM 163 and PAM 192.

44 mm Luminor case, versus 44 mm Radiomir Case. Limited Edition of 300 pieces for the 192, 230 pieces for the 163.

Valjoux 234 manual chronograph movement for the 163, Lemania hand wound movement ( if my memory serves me well ) for the 192.

I used to own both of them, and the one I regret the most is the PAM 192. Its tantalum case, the lack of date is still in my heart.

And you, which one do you prefer?

Best,

Nicolas

personally, the dial of the 163 somehow is better balanced to my taste...

but, I like the tantalum case...I think I would like sort of a hybrid...a 163 in tantalum...

Something else in tantalum... " A bit " over my budget... ;)

Jaeger Lecoultre Hybris Artistica Gyrotourbillon Three in Tantalum. ...

well, I would refer to that one not as a watch but as a piece of art that shows the time...

well, at Swiss universities they don't pay good enough salaries so that I could allow myself something like that... I was actually in Geneva recently investigating at the Journe boutique the option of the Bleue in tantalum... got upset with the 5 years wa...

well, and really without derouting this thread too much...

I would say that for me for such with a piece I could certainly understand the ratio between what you get and the requested price....something that I personally cannot do in other more recent examples as with an alarm watch with a tag price of 200K.....

And for free! ;) [nt]

Love both but...

..would go with the 163. Great movement, whereas the 192 had a closed case back unlike it tantalum cousin the 172 albeit a different movement had an exhibition case back.

I love the look of the 192

The only Panerai I would seriously want to consider... Just never handled one and worry about the weight... in titanium this would already be in my collection. Design is superb!

Stop

Last thing I need is to seriously consider another piece... have trouble as it is...

Be strong. ;) [nt]

I used to have the 192.

Great watch, good weight, lighter than steel. Loved the greyish-blue tone of the metal. Only reason I don't have it is I needed to trade towards something I really wanted.

Tantalum density

More or less exactly double that of steel... so unless hollow case would be difficult to make lighter

Stop stop

It surely must be lot worse I don’t need to consider another piece

Ok so you won’t stop...

Yes but I am telling my mind it is too heavy!

Chronic in my case
