He was talking about European luxury brand buyers in general - and he could have included Americans in that bucket also. He wasn't specifically referring to Panerai owners. And if in general Chinese luxury buyers are being more diligent about the brands and products they buy, then good for them. It means they need proof that what they're buying really is superior, and not just dressed up to look that way. Walk into a store dealing in luxury goods in Europe or US and and you can clearly hear shoppers buying the brand name and the status, not the intrinsics of the product, about which many couldn't care less.


Bravo to Signor Bonati for telling it like it is.
