Not much comment this year from you guys on the new models

 By: AnthonyTsai : January 16th, 2012-16:43
Do you guys feel there isn't anything that special this year compared to the prior years? What are your thoughts? For me, I feel this year is more of a foundation building year for the following years. Cheers, Anthony

47mm

 By: edwardwchang : January 16th, 2012-16:55
too many 47mm this year. bigger diameter=smaller market demographic. panerai may be the one brand that is NOT pandering to china by making dragon or panda dialed 40mm luminors

Not exactly pleased with what comes out this year

 By: BluNotte : January 16th, 2012-17:41
Maybe i should really stop purchasing any Panerais in the future! Ciao Stephen

I see a foundation too.

But there are some nice new models. The 399 is the star, but at only 100 pieces and half of those in a set it will be hard to come by. The 449 is an interesting piece. I don't see a new model that grabs me as much as the 372 or the 382. On that subject, t...

Yes, am glad to see no bronze this year - whew!

 By: Stefan2 : January 16th, 2012-20:42
/very much agree on the relief I felt not seeing a bronze piece. I'm really digging the 443 - 44mm GMT with 359 dial numbers and - ceramic bracelet!

Meant '438' in my previous post

 By: Stefan2 : January 16th, 2012-20:46
Meant PAM 438 in my previous post. I'm really digging the Tuttonero!

I for one am NOT disappointed..We are still waiting

for some 2011 models to come out...Liking the 422 very much..Couldn't help feeling the 372 missing some heft because of the plexy....so this one will probably be better for me...The 399 ofcourse is a shame..Like almost everyone I will miss out on it..Wouk...

totally Agree with you.... nt [nt]

No message body

I highly doubt the PAM382 will remain the lone bronze PAM

 By: AnthonyTsai : January 18th, 2012-09:02
WIth past behavior, I expect more Bronzo in different dial color combinations. I'd be highly surprised if they don't release more variants in the future! Cheers, Anthony

If he says so, I'd take his word seriously

but then again, who really knows? If Panerai ever did introduce another Bronze watch, I personally would not be surprised at all. Cheers, Anthony

Hi Anthony, iam bit disappointed this year in terms of presentation and innovations. I agree that Panerai maintains it's heritage and legacy but at the same time must work on something new like what Lange has achieved in Honey Gold or Hublot with Magic Go...

All things to all people

 By: oiramsq : January 16th, 2012-21:25
(Sorry that I've never posted anything before and I'm choosing NOW to make myself known...) What I find interesting is that people aways talk about the models that are being added - and not those that are being taken away. By that I mean that Panerai can ...

panda-ing

 By: edwardwchang : January 16th, 2012-21:58
I laughed out loud. thanks for that. good first post. Panerai's strategy is that they want to target the paneresti who buy multiple watches. This is where watches differ from cars. its a lot easier to own 20 panerai than 20 porsches. i think panerai's log...

Taking a bow!

 By: oiramsq : January 16th, 2012-23:14
Thank you for appreciating my 'joke' and not just ... well not just getting me thrown off the forum! As for selling the 372 and the the 372 + date the next year... I find it funny considering that the P3000 movement was designed to house date, gmt and pow...

Panerai Fatigue

 By: joshua71 : January 18th, 2012-10:53
I'm not sure if it is just me but I sense a bit of Panerai fatigue. Every product eventually cools off after a while and I think that Panerai has had its run. I think they have facilitated the fatigue by a series of missteps that have been debated on this...

Second That

 By: donwest : January 21st, 2012-20:29
There seems to be more thiought in profit than in keeping to their core values. With Panerai it's past lies in the dial. So many variations and weird combinations of materials made it a clumbsy but unique tool to wear on the wrist. That was the case all t...

A quiet year from all the brands...

 By: patrick_y : January 16th, 2012-21:31
Truly, A quiet year from all the brands. Strategically a smart move by the brands to be quiet and cautious this year. And I imagine, many of the brands are still overwhelmed by the orders of models they debuted last year; which they have been slow to deli...

In light of the pending global crisis

 By: BluNotte : January 16th, 2012-22:51
It is very wise they do this. You are always full of wisdom bro, glad to see that. Stephen

Well I think it's a perfect year

 By: Bruno.M1 : January 16th, 2012-22:06
not as good as SIHH2011.... but this is why I call it a perfect year ! You can't expect to get more and more every year! What sould they bring in SIHH 2020 ? This year is imo more than good enough, and not exagerated The 395 is not what I'm looking for wh...

I can't decide

 By: mirador : January 16th, 2012-22:11
Panerai has been spinning it's wheels a bit over past years as it issued reiterations of previous models, and now we have a re-edition of a re-edition in the 448 being an update of the 249. The emergence of the 2533 inspired models is a good step albeit s...

Perhaps, we can say that it's...

 By: dxboon : January 16th, 2012-23:26
...a relatively quiet year for Panerai, but each year can't be a blockbuster. It's about the slow and steady building of a portfolio, not about outdoing yourself and your competitors year-over-year. The 399 is likely to be a blockbuster IMO. Cheers, Daos

I think...

 By: Mirian : January 17th, 2012-01:03
those who bought the PAM 373 should be very unhappy! More felt like "cheated", but maybe that is a strong word, but it seems like they are rushing the 373 out before the SIHH 2012 to get rid of the Platinum. Anyway, first impression of the new model, and ...

Based on the pictures, nothing "knocked me over"....

 By: sergio : January 17th, 2012-03:33
the hybrid-ization of the California dial, offered in every possible permutation it's a bit...over the top, IMO. I reserve a 2nd opinion, once I'll have the chance to wear a couple of them...live...

only a couple of Special Models

 By: Tony A.H : January 18th, 2012-03:34
for me this Year. i love the 399 but way out of my Budget. ;0((((((((. they should've done it in a Limited Run of 1000 Pieces with an Inhouse Movement rather than 100 Pcs.. and the only other one that i Like/ Love is the 449. but why too many New Models.?...

If Panerai made a cheaper version of the PAM399 in stainless steel w/ in-house movement

 By: AnthonyTsai : January 18th, 2012-20:08
I wouldn't be surprised. It's just another different combination they can make for a future model, and my bet is it's only a matter of time. Maybe change the dial or luminova color with this version if it happens. Look at new PAM424 - it's the same as a P...

I agree with you 100% but the real question is....

 By: Miranda : January 21st, 2012-18:08
will it be like a 372 for all...... or limited , and if so will it be like 449 for boutiques only, or like the 249, for all........ Imran
