The last because I am extremely...

... disappointed by the fact that when I received it, I found out that they had increased the edition from 299 pieces to 501..... Given that I subscribed for the watch directly on day 1 of the SIHH, on the basis of 299 pieces, I think it would have been decent to inform me when they had increased the number of watches. Now I found out when I looked at the special edition paper (and subsequently the website).

It is really really poor marketing / customer service. And the thing is: it is not an incident, but the umpteenth example of Panerai being on the wrong path, alienating its historical customer base. If one were to list all the f###-ups they have made in 2010 and 2011 alone, then I think we would have a very very long list here..... So question is: is this the sort of company that I want to give my hard-earned money to (and that is basically a rhetorical question)?

My latest (and last?) Panerai

 By: ticktocktimesup : December 11th, 2011-04:08
Here it is. I must say I am even more stunned by the beauty of this watch in real life. But lets be honest as well, it is a rather simple watch in a very expensive case. They could have come up with a more unique movement for this one, and same counts for...

One of my 5 dream

Panerais .. big congrats Damjan

Congratulations. One question, though.

Why this one over the Cali Pam 249? Just curious. Best, Nicolas.

Thanks. Two reasons for me....

 By: ticktocktimesup : December 11th, 2011-07:26
... the first one being that the white gold case has this beautiful hue over it, which the steel does not (note that I am not paying attention to historical aspects such as steel being more appropriate then white gold). It just looks amazing. the second r...

I know the 262 pretty well...

... as someone close to me owns it. Must say that I like the 376 a tad better. But its a close call. White gold case has a nicer shine to it vs the platinum one in my opinion.

I see

You know how strongly i would advocate the Pt case, but enjoy yours in any case! Stephen

I had the same dilemma, NIcolas...

...I wondered if I should sell the 249 and buy the white gold Cali. I couldn't find enough reasons and so I didn't take the jump. I couldn't part with the blue hands in my Cali. This brown dial and the white gold case are also beautiful though.

Great looping watch.

Why the last Panerai. Best regards, George

same question here...

 By: Jester : December 11th, 2011-07:30
Given the sheer beauty of the piece, are you absolutely sure this is time last Panerai you would own? Or you are simply referring to the last Panerai for 2011????

A very valid and strong point you'v gotten there

It is amusing actually to see panerai turn things out this way. Agree with you! Stephen

How not to agree with your....conclusion?

 By: sergio : December 12th, 2011-03:49
Same thing happened to the 373 which, now, will be stretched to 300pcs (and increased in cost TWICE, while awaiting delivery). I also think that marketing policy for the LE/UE can stand a bit ot tinkering. I will still buy Panerai, no turning back for me,...

So was the smaller run a factor in your decision to buy the watch?

 By: MichaelC : December 12th, 2011-07:07
I read at the top of the thread how much you love it, but now that you placed the deposit on the basis of it being a 299 piece run. Of course I understand your disappointment the run was increased, but it begs the question, if this were a regular producti...

Very valid question...

 By: ticktocktimesup : December 12th, 2011-08:11
... the point is that part of my decision was indeed based on the fact that it was limited. As indicated in my post, this is an expensive watch because it has a white gold case and then they topped it up a bit more because of the fact that it was a limite...

I appreciate your candor.

And I very much understand your sentiments. The reality is these kinds of issues happen and they do affect our feelings. I truly hope you will enjoy the watch over time without any negative recollections of the increased production. I admire your passion ...

+1 appreciate the candor as well!

production numbers aside, this version of the cali is just full of gold and brown goodness... enjoy it and wear it in best of health...

This happens all the time with Panerai

 By: AnthonyTsai : December 12th, 2011-19:10
For example, the PAM29 re-release last year, it was supposed to be 500 pieces. Panerai boosted the final # to 1000 pieces, so double the amount. I'm assuming Panerai bumps up final production #'s after receiving overwhelming AD purchase orders from SIHH. ...

Congrats, ticktocktimesup:-)

What to say, beautiful.....but...

Don't get use of precious metal on PAMs

 By: 1watch : December 30th, 2011-16:58
Given the historical use of steel only, as I am informed. I would like to see this same watch in steel like the 249, as it would seem more appropriate for the brand and not cost prohibitive for many fans. It is a beautiful watch though!

Awesome.

I saw it at my AD. I must say. It's an awesome watch. Words can't Describe. If funds was not an issue. I would have taken it. Congrats On a fine watch.
