Panerai service question

May 24, 2020,21:00 PM

It looks like panerai boutiques will replace the hands set as part of a full service and it didn't bother me much on my luminova 25. However I recently found out that a lot of L SWISS L dials get swapped for L SWISS MADE L dials which surprised me. I understand the rationale for T dials, I am curious as to why an L dial would have to be swapped, as I understand they don't degrade much over time, unless the case has been exposed to rough weather. Curious if anybody had to get their dials swapped and how they felt about it. Especially for tobacco brown dials, I wonder if the shade of brown and luminova color would be exactly the same or not.

Their explanation for replacing hands...

Is that they never go back on correctly once removed. Perhaps your dial got replaced because it was removed and damaged in the process?

Yes... hands get replaced since

They are a pressure fit and so when you take them off, it’s better to provide new hands... sucks if you have a T dial or suddenly get a “non matching” dial hand set.

Going back to the beginning of Panerai's....

production and service, dials and hand replacements (instead of repairs) are pretty common. They have created, thru time, some veritable ORIGINAL franken-watches hahaha What I find unacceptable, from a strictly customer service's point of view, is NOT bei...

Totally! Especially those with T dials
