It's got to be about PRESENCE...

No other watches that I've worn prior to Panerai had the physical and emotional presence that these tuna cans have on the wrist. There is a feeling of attachment that I've not experienced with other brands. Of course, this is a combination of design, size, and on some models the manual wind (also new to me).

Question: Why do you guys like Panerai watches?

 By: AnthonyTsai : January 22nd, 2008-20:02
Let's get some discussion going on in here, so I thought this would be a great question to ask everyone, and hopefully we can get some lurkers out of the woods and get them to post Why do you guys like Panerai watches? What attracts you to this brand? Loo...

Very easy question....

 By: Krieng : January 22nd, 2008-21:42
What took my first attention was its "SIZE"....as everyone knows that no one loves to wear more than 36-38mm watches, especially 10 years ago. A guy or gal who wears big watch was considered to be a wierdo.. and look pretty strange! So, when I first saw P...

Do you now look at 38mm watches in a different view cause of the 44mm PAMs?

Wearing these 44, 45, or 47mm monsters has tainted my ability to wear a 38mm watch comfortably. Takes a while to get used to wearing a small watch now but in the end, I still prefer 44 over 38 anyday! Cheers, Anthony

Good though Anthony

the crown protector

 By: davilo : January 23rd, 2008-08:48
Regardless of size...w/o knowing its size, the crown guard and dial simplicity was the very 1st attraction I had for Panerai. Then everything else fell into place. The history, the collectors and the rugged design. Of course, then there was the infamous f...

I love the crown protector too

For me it was design and readability

 By: scott : January 23rd, 2008-19:12
With my eyesight starting to fade, having a watch I could easily read was important. But also important to me is good design. The Panerai fulfilled both for me. By the way, I do not have a 44mm Panerai but a 40mm automatic. I bought the watch in 2000 befo...

Thanks for posting Scott!

I've often asked myself that same question as I had the same initial response as BHK9. Panerai was just not under my radar then. I guess it grows on you. My friend/colleague is hardcore on Panerais and as we share our passion on horology, his PAMs kinda s...
