Maybe the stop seconds were stripped most recently. Perhaps before that finishing/decoration was done away with, probably in phases. Or possibly the spec-down happened all at once. And the cheapening might not be over yet (given the apparent goal of continuous [dis-]improvement).

Especially now that the caseback is closed, buyers can't even try looking before purchasing (and one will likely still be loathe to pop it open during the warranty period).

This one has the P.9010 calibre, created by Panerai, same as in my PAM1056 I believe, and is quite accurate. Familiar?

When he said he's not sure what kind of movement Panerai placed inside, maybe he's not referring to the caliber's model number (which is easy to determine and not just familiar, but notorious...). Rather, he likely means the movement monkeying Panerai has...

I assume if the the watch “hacks” like my current PAM1056 with its p9010 it must have the first generation older, non-monkeyed movement.

Don’t let the movement controversy sway you. I have both versions of the 9010 and both run like a top. The hacking is a non-issue as a tiny bit of back pressure on the crown will stop the movement if you insist on precise setting. As for decoration, much ...
