Bernhard Lederer - Summer News

Jul 16, 2013,10:14 AM

While summer has been a long time coming for many this year, it is finally here and I hope you are
enjoying it.

We have had a very busy year − in fact a few very busy years − with manufacturing the Gagarin Tourbillons
and developing our manufacturing capabilities for other brands as well as ourselves.

The Gagarin Tourbillon

The Gargarin Tourbillon, a limited edition of just 50 pieces in total, was developed and manufactured
completely in-house. It celebrates Yuri Garagarin's historic exploit when, on the 12th of April 1961, he
became the first man in space and the first to successfully orbit the earth and return safely to earth.

The dial of the Gagarin Tourbillon is hand-engraved in solid gold with the colour of the oceans either in
galvanic blue or black, with a scintillating outer dial in synthetic black diamond. An integral magnifying
glass ensures that all details of the dial and tourbillon can be fully appreciated. The movement is fully
developed and manufactured in-house.

The flying tourbillon orbits anticlockwise (east was the direction of the flight) around the dial in 108 minutes
(the duration of Gagarin's flight) and appears to be support by an elegantly curved arm which was inspired
by the by the large (25 m) commemorative statue at Gagarin’s landing site near Engels. The letters VOSTOK
(meaning east and the name of Gagarin's capsule) features vertically around the tourbillon cage.

In-house manufacture

We have always tried to manufacture as much as possible in-house to better control both quality and
delivery times. We now have a very comprehensive machinery workshop with very experienced operators
and are able to offer to external brands a full gamut of services from design and construction
(with 3D modelling), through to component manufacture and even assembled, regulation and casing if required.

The Bernhard Lederer manufacture is equipped with 3-axis (BC Technologies), 4-axis (Okuma LB2000),
5 axis (two Willemin Macodel 408s), 7-axis (Citizen K12-VII lathe and Citizen C16-VII), 8-axis
(Willemin Macodel 508MT plus Citizen R07-V1 lathe) and 10-axes (Citizen M16-V) CNC machines as well as
tools and devices for quality control.

Thank you for your attention and support and I wish you an excellent summer.
