The other A481 Minerva Pythagore - the A6 Aviation

While I have managed to acquire my Minerva Pythagore on the day of becoming Montblanc moderator here, it’s somewhat sportier rendition - the A481-A6 Aviation - has eluded me so far. While most of the characteristics are shared between the two (here:  www.watchprosite.com  for a review), the Aviation has an aviator style dial, luminous Arab numerals and lume filled cathedral hands. As such it has been the design inspiration behind the Montblanc 1858 line and seen it’s design DNA continue to this day.

While available in a 38mm case as the Grande Aviation A482, too, I find the 34mm version more pleasing, as the Cal. 48 movement size better fits the watch size, making for a perfectly positioned small seconds hand (at the expense of a cut-off numeral at 6 o‘clock).

While it’s perhaps not as elegant as it’s earthbound ‘sister’, I find the watch has a charm of its own and am looking forward to finding one in due course.

Have a great remaining Montblanc / Minerva Monday!

I didn't know of it till now. I'd love to see MB do an updated piece with a manual wind Minerva movement in steel case and (why not) hinged caseback. Thanks for posting. M4

Fully with you on this...

The last use of the Cal. 48 movement has been in the Montblanc TimeWalker Pythagore Ultralight Concept in 2016. And seeing the calibre again, or perhaps it’s less austere looking Gnutti era successor, the Cal. 62-00 it a watch again would be fantastic. We...

Thanks Nico!

Would be great if we could see a return, even if it’s not very likely at the moment

The movement and size...

I believe a 38mm version with the Cal. 62-00 and hunter case back would be superb.

I am in! [nt]

Still a couple of pieces short but a start

You're right.

A criticism I have of MB that is the straps seem to be an after-thought and don't necessarily match the personality/character of the watch (even if they are high quality straps). I'm referring to the 1858 models. M4

That watch is perfect!! [nt]
