Hard to answer if the steel looks more formal but you may be right - the monochrome look you produce with it is certainly colder, more detached than what you get with the warmer, RG case. I guess you can dress it down, especially if you change the strap f... 

Certainly, I wish you much better luck with your 1st MB than I have had with mine. I clearly remember my first few months of ownership, it was pure love and I was dreaming daily on the next one.

Let's hope that all works out OK for you, and that you will be able to regain your love for the 1858 Tachymeter to start off with, and potentially a next one later, too Let's see, if the last call was a sign of things turning for the better!

Beautiful design by Montblanc. If I did not have a Nomos based on the Perseux 7001 movement already, I would think about this.

Agree on the beautiful design. In a way the closest successor to the Minerva Pythagore they have in their portfolio currently

I fully agree - it is an honest watch - the type of watch making that went into the Minerva Pythagore (and generally into Minervas prior to the Gnutti era, which got elevated to a different level of finishing, and price). IMHO definitely a watch that fits... 

Got another non-Montblanc incoming, and then I will need to decide on the next move. Well, there is a watch present for a family member first, which will not be a Montblanc, and then... But to be honest, I still do not know.

As for formality...well you know it's steel and intellectually I think you will not hesitate to wear it in casual settings. And I think you will find it works perfectly. Congratulations.

I was wondering if you could tell me how accurate this watch is. You see, at my company farewell party for my impending retirement, I was given a bag full of Montblanc goodies, none of which I need or want or like! I was told I could exchange them for any... 

Thanks for your kind comments The watch should offer a chronometric level of accuracy, as the name states. Have not timed mine yet (reminds me to dig out the kit for doing so) but the movement is being used in quite some chronometer certified watches. Hop... 

I guess the next step would be to drop by a boutique and place it on my wrist. I wish MB would make more manual watches of wearable sizes ie 39mm and below (44mm is not, even though enthusiasts will try to convince themselves that it is a wearable). On th... 

There are several options, depending on what you want to spend. If you want the full performance, a Witschi is possibly your best bet but then it will cost you more than this Montblanc At the lower end you can start with an iPhone / smartphone attachments...
