SIHH 2018: Montblanc Photo Report - Exploration, Racing, and beautiful Chronograph....
Jan 18, 2018,23:54 PM
The booth is almost the same as the previous years. But this year, they emphasize "mountains" more, so the booth has mountain-like structure, as well as the auditorium inside.
Montblanc watch this year has three pillars - or rather the new CEO decided to have more focused lines than before.
1. Minerva has 160th Anniversary this year - since 1858, of course. Lots of new 1858 Collection. Montblanc=mountain, particularly "Seven Summits", that is used as a theme for "Adventure/ Exploration" and therefore more masculine type watches.
2. TimeWalker Collection for Professional/ Sport watches.
3. New Star Legacy Collection. The new Nicolas Rieussec chronograph.
These are the key milestone for 2018 Collection of Montblanc, which, to me, makes more sense than "everything and anything" approach. There have been too many collections and the focus was a bit blurry.... Of course, great watches here and there all the time (e.g. 1858 Monopusher Chronograph), but as a brand, the focus was not there.
1. 1858 Collection
I am sure different colors will come in time....
That said, the movement is too delicious to wait and see
)
Next, TimeWalker Collection - "Every Race is a Journey"
Newly designed dial with guilloche pattern and date window looks real Classic.
Addendum:
Hugh Jackman came to the booth! Enjoyed his talk about his experience with mountains - he and his son climbed Mr. Fuji when he was shooting in Japan. Wow, even I have not climbed (yet)
) Very nice chap indeed.
So, with this vast, yet more focused targets collection, did you find something you like?
