Many things to say, Robin.
First of all, thanks for these comparisons with the Datograph. They both belong to the category of fine Chronographs, with a big C, along with another one, the JLC Duometre, of course.
We tend to forget the MB Villerets, and we are SO w(r)ong.
Compared to the Dato, I would say that the Villeret is less baroque, in its decoration. I love the way its angles are polished, the high level of " bienfacture " .
But here, we are in the Champions League of Chronographs. I would rate these 2 above the Duometre, but the Duometre is more original ( and quite unique ) in its conception.
Which is also very interesting is how you explain the production of MB Villeret Chronographs, and the different collections. You are right to welcome these different collections, but it was very important to remind us the differences ( cases, dials, case backs... )
I am now convinced that it is worth getting 2 MB Villeret Chronographs: A 16.29, and a 13.21.
Thanks, my friend. I can't wait to see your new 1858 Tachymeter steel. You will adore it.
