I would give this watch a 2nd or 3rd glance

Even if it had no brand on it. It is a monopusher and a pulsometer, and it has a nice coppery dial.

They say in life, when faced with hard decisions, we flip a coin.

"The answer will come even before the coin lands."

I like  MB  as they have a consistent history of excellent fountain pens, whereas would've preferred it if they kept Minerva as a brand instead of relabelling it as a MB. Small things perhaps, compared to what this brand is positioning to achieve, with their exciting pieces, and will be a matter of time when it gains more market recognition and credence.

The watch needs a story - perhaps in the similar mood to the story Annapurna by Maurice Herzog, when the field surgeon Oudot amputates his frost-bitten fingers during the descent from Annapurna.

Something like:

Frost bite had started to waste my fingers. I can't remember how long it has been. Annapurna had almost killed my spirit too. I wasted into a weak pitiful self, being carried by the Sherpas back. On and off, I would ask Oudot for the time and day, I wanted to go back home, the comforts of my home. All our field watches were breached by moisture, with exception to Oudots trusty tool of a pulsometer watch - I would never understand how these complicated watches work.

It would be another 7 days before we reach the dingy hospital in Pokhara.Time was not on our side. Oudot told me he could take a chance to spare me the agony of cutting off my fingers - by letting time tell it's severity. I wished I could have worn thicker gloves that wouldn't get wet, maybe I'd kept my fingers.

Can't stop thinking about the Mont Blanc LE Heritage Pulsograph

Have been researching more into the LE Minerva Villeret models Pros Haute horology-monopusher chronograph hand built Beautiful design Small numbers so none really on secondary market Good value Cons Quality issues, two members have had their watches go ba...

The large sum is very relative. For this amount of money you will not find something equivalent in terms of finishings and refinement.

I too was enticed by this watch

having tried it on a month ago in Kuala Lumpur. For me another pro would be that it is in stainless steel but that is personal. The cons though that have stopped me from pulling the trigger include the fact that this watch is so much thicker than say the ...

It is good enough to be considered against PP’s 5170 as you did for an emerging brand-a tough one

I understand your sleeplessness! Ever since this hit the market I've had similar dreams.

But aside from your quality concerns (which I'd read nothing about, so… very interesting) the thing for me is 40mm. This fights mightily with the watch's "heritage," and this tension would have me spending my shekels elsewhere. (And it's a lot of them!) T...

I like this watch but for the reasons you mention have held back.
