It was 1 - 8 - 58 in former times

When Montblanc took over Minerva they decided to produce the "fait main a Villeret" models (i.e. the Villeret 1858 line) according to the 1 - 8 - 58 rule.
58 pieces in red gold, 8 in white gold and 1 piece in Platinum. So this is from the 16.29 Monopusher Gran Feu enamel Chrono the "1". The 8 WG pieces came with a black dial and the 58 RG with a white dial. Same holds true for its little brother with the 13.21 caliber. There was also a blue enamel platinum "1" but that is already sold. And finally there was a bespoke piece in blue with white dials and WG case (made upon request to my knowledge).

for me it is an ultimate beautiful watch with so many nice shadings - and i fear that the wrist time for many others will tend towards Zero. Knowing that there is no other like it tops it - even though it is a killer in terms of overall budget (for me)
