Jaeger-LeCoultre

A unique collection of clocks (including 30+ JaegerLeCoultre) to be sold tomorrow

I recently found out about the sale of this very unique collection of magnificent table clocks (mostly JaegerLeCoultre, Hermes and ATO), which was apparently amassed by a collector, and is almost silently hitting the auction block tomorrow.

There are many gems, with some well known highlights of JaegerLeCoultre best 'spécialités horlogères' era production as well as some particularly rare or unique versions.

While this collection is great and it is a fascinating display of Jaeger design creativity in the 1st part of the XXth century, as a collector this sale leaves a bitter taste as it has been put forward with so little effort by the auctioneer (as an on-line sale only, published 7 days ago with absolutely no communication, no press, no event, not even a catalog foreword - not to mention, no proper catalog...)

It was a truly unique occasion to shine a light on this aspect of timepieces collecting, and obviously a missed opportunity.

I don't know who the collector is (was?) but it is sad to see all his effort to carefully assemble a tasteful collection of unique objects going away in such a low-key fashion.

Anyway, if at least this can get a little exposure, here is the visual to the auction, live with Artcurial and ending in less than 24h :
