Sorry, I missed your question somehow. The internal arrow is controlled by the crown at 2:00 and winding that crown many times powers the alarm.

The center portion rotates to set the alarm. Right now the arrow is pointing to 8 which would mean the alarm chimes at 8 o'clock.
