Your ideal JLC Summer Watch?

Jun 03, 2010,04:30 AM

Now that Summer is strongly knoking at our door, I'm curious to know which JLC  you will wear and bring with you during this season and your holidays.

Will you let your dressy watches in the safe, and favorize watches which will follow you in your water or sporty activities?

In this case, what is the ideal companion?

Vintage?

Modern?

Complicated or simple watches?

... Both?

smile

Please do share your summer habits!

Best,

Nicolas

You know my answer already, Vlad

This is the perfect summer JLC. And that is not just IMHO -- it is more like a fact. LOL. Well at least someone else approves... As you may note, already the EWC is encrusted in sand and salt from last weekend at the ocean. However, if I am lucky, the EWC...

A real tool of pleasure, Respo.

WT, Chrono and Diving in the same watch, with a shock absorber construction to protect the movement.... You are covered in almost all the situations! I feel the new Extrem Lab II may be this kind of watch, too. Next summer, maybe, we'll have the opportuni...

For the moment, I'm thinking about it.

On the final version, they removed the writings on the bezel, which is a good thing, to me. I like a lot the idea behind this watch ,especially the titanium version, with its silicon escapement, and its anti magnetic construction. Not that I would use it ...

That is a good change

 By: respo : June 3rd, 2010-08:32
that JLC removed the writings on the bezel for the final version. I look forward to seeing teh final version in the metal at some point. That might be one worth considering. I cannot get a good enough sense of this one just from the photos I have seen. re...

IMO, you need two things to fully appreciate this watch, Respo.

 By: amanico : June 3rd, 2010-08:49
1/ To see it in the flesh, I totally agree, as it is much better in real than in the flesh. 2/ Then, to think about it. This year, I believe the most interesting point is that JLC released some watches to think about... The E.L II, and the Duolmetre à...

Actually, you already saw it, but maybe didn't you notice it?

You are absolutely right.... I saw it, but did not notice that the writing was gone... Thank you for reminding me my friend... Still though, it is quite big for my wrist (not to mention expensive...) Thank you... Cheers

I also saw this post...

What a great conceptual phrase!! Definitely a new buzz word in my argumentation for getting new watches, thanks

This comes as no shock to anyone, but I agree with you!

My small collection doesn't include the breadth possessed by those of many here, so, unfortunately, I don't have any decision to make as to which JLC to wear. But on the rubber strap, I feel safe wearing this in the hot and humid city, the salty, sandy be...

What are you afraid of? The Plexy? You have a spare one, and I'm sure JLC will cange your plexy if deeply scratched... Hey, don't tell JLC that I told you that, Eeeeh? The water resistance? Well, for swimming with your watch, I think that 200 meters is en...

You are absolutely right, of course

I know what this watch was designed for, and yet I keep wearing it for fun evenings out and about. Ok, I promise to wear the Pola in the water...at sokme point this summer. Good to know about the replaceable Plexy. ;-) respo

Polaris 68 and Navy SEALs ...

 By: amanico : June 3rd, 2010-06:59
A logical solution, Jerome. I don't know when JLC will release the new Navy SEALs, I hope before this summer, to see some of us testing it in real. As I'm working a bit on the Vintage Diving thema, these days, I was thinking about the modern offer, and sp...

There are some JLC which " fall " in this category: Polaris, Navy SEALs Alarm, MC Diving GMT, Pro Géo, MC Memo...Without forgetting the Amvox I ( or II, or III... ) The Amvox I is a superb Summer Choice. Of course, you won't be able to swim with it, ...

What an elegant way to spend the summer days! A MM Deep Sea would be an excellent choice, without forgetting, actually, that it is not water resistant anymore. But do we always spend our time on the beaches? Best, my friend. Nicolas

Not a JLC

Interesting point, Martin

 By: amanico : June 3rd, 2010-11:01
I partially agree, as indeed, the Diving JLCs will do the job in a perfect way... As well as your other watches. When I partially disagree is when you say that your Memo is not the good watch for summer. I willl elaborate all this in my answer .... Best, ...

How could I forget to thank you too?? Our conversations helped push me over the edge. Let's never talk again about the Ex Lab 2!

I am glad if I had anything to do with your decision

 By: respo : June 3rd, 2010-19:06
...but the Pola 65 is such a great watch, it is an easy choice to make. And you will recall that our conversations convinced me to go for the Jumbo, and for exactly the right one, too.! We really MUST discuss the E. LAB 2 soon! LOL. respo

Mostel, it looks great. two babies within two days. Congrats.

 By: respo : June 4th, 2010-05:49
It is certainly worthy of the position. No, not built for summer adventures, but as you said for more elegant activities, even if it is a chrono. For instance, how long does it take for me to finish this cocktail? LOL. You and I are both on the AMVOX hunt...

Cocktail timing may well be the original intent of this chrono...

Be careful, Adam, there is a wide choice among the Modern Diving watches, from the Simple Navy SEALs Auto to the sophisticated Pro Géo... And yes, I' m also thinking about adding a simple NS Auto... If only we could always have this kind of problems ...

The new Navy Seals Diving automatic looks very tempting.
