I like:
- the look. It is very handsome, particularly the gold (which seems to have more contrast than the steel - if the movement was gold plated it would loose some of the contrast and so personally I am glad it is not plated;
- the fact that you can tell the time on both faces, unlike the 1996 version. It makes it more useful to me than the 1996 version;
- the size, at least from the pictures. I don’t mind thick watches but I reserve the right to change my mind when I see it in the flesh!
I don’t like:
- the strap. It looks cheap to me, particularly on the gold version. For me it should have more dressy black leather strap. The mix of leather and fabric is not to my taste;
- the lack of a date (it’s the most useful complication for me in day to day life);
- in the WatchAdvisor video on YouTube the JLC representative said that, on the gold model, the hands are gold plated and not solid gold. Unless there is a technical reason for that it just seems like cost cutting, which doesn’t feel appropriate in €42k watch.
It’s a great looking watch and I look forward to seeing one in the Boutique. I also look forward to seeing further updates on the 1990’s models. Perhaps the perpetual calendar next?
All the best,
Jon
