Series Produced for the Seven Mercury Astronauts?? This One, John Glenn's.

You guys are the LeCoultre experts, and I sincerely appreciate your responses.
My quick research suggests that NASA ordered (at least) eight of these watches, and gave one of them to each of the seven Mercury astronauts. This would have been in the Mercury training days, so let's assume around 1960.
We saw the watch issued to Wally Schirra (shown below) offered for sale, in October 2008, at a sale of NASA collectibles, by an auction house in St. Louis. It sold for $1,500.
The watch that I posted to start the discussion was the property of another Mercury astronaut, John Glenn.
Perhaps the Le Coultre experts will have some idea about how these eight watches were ordered / produced, but this is the story, as I believe it to be, 18 hours after the start of this little research project.
Thoughts?
