Really sad to see but I guess it was expected. FYI, the Blancpain and Breguet boutiques in Cannes were both closed this past week and both were on the legendary Croisette 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Sad news. The JLC boutique in Miami is closing

 By: descartes1 : September 11th, 2020-14:20
Another victim of Covid I suppose. It’s really too bad because it was a high visibility store with good events, and I really enjoyed going in there. ...

wow must be really bad...

 By: christianch : September 11th, 2020-14:54
I think they even had some special editions for Miami and seemed an important location..

That is sad,

 By: Thomas_3 : September 11th, 2020-14:58
I wonder however if we will see more boutiques following suit in light of current events. Not necessarily JLC, but boutiques from every manufacturer. Between COVID and e-commerce brick and mortar stores are hurting.

Nicolas,

I have never been to this boutique in the Miami Design district, but despite the Covid-19 situation, the Miami design district in the past few years has seen many high-end watch boutiques open there, and reportedly is a lovely high traffic luxury watch de...

This is all very true

 By: descartes1 : September 11th, 2020-21:44
And what’s more, miami is the gateway to Latin America and the design district is filled with wealthy tastemakers from there. It’s a huge marketing give-up to pull the boutique out of that location that extends far beyond the US. To put things in perspect...

Other boutiques are closing as well.

 By: Skyrider01 : September 12th, 2020-10:48
When I was there a couple of weeks ago the manager of the JLC boutique told me that a few other boutiques were closing as well.

Sad news indeed [nt]

The same happened here in Amsterdam. To my eyes, a sign

 By: ChetBaker : September 11th, 2020-15:37
that JLC does not enough to stand out and has long lost the battle to Patek Rolex and Royal Oak.

I really hope they don’t close Paris Boutique!

 By: cory : September 13th, 2020-00:24
And we see JLC make strong comeback. Or perhaps it’s too late.

JLC need to wake up!!!! I still love the brand ....

 By: ChristianDK : September 23rd, 2020-00:11
but right now I cant find anything in their collection I am willing to spend my hard earned money on. It has been like that fo a while. Since Lambert moved on I feel it has gone down hill.

I have a lot of patience with them. Especially when I dig in to their back catalogue.

 By: ChristianDK : September 25th, 2020-11:08
However my confidence in their current management is tiny. To do strong products you need a strong vision. They haven’t shown anything yet.

Agreed Christian. I have owned a truck load of JLCs over the years but like you I have not purchased any recent one for good reason...

Let's hope things change and the direction of JLC improves. As you stated, management will need to have a clear vision of what they want to do and accomplish in the near future as well as in the long term 👍

Unfortunately I have to agree 100% with both of you.

 By: proestak : September 25th, 2020-12:44
The virus crisis finds JLC in a weak position without new ideas and fresh, innovative watches with strong character such as ExtremeLabs,AMVOX Duometres,Compressors and so on...They must act.. really hurts.

Well the Geophysic line discontinued to soon due to low sales, the Reverso Burgundy is one of the same with a nice dial, nothing new here.

 By: proestak : September 25th, 2020-21:22
Since 2012 I haven’t seen something really cool in the affordable segment. It’s almost a I wonder if the leadership of the brand has realize the urgency of the situation. I really want to spend my money on a jlc but it’s like they don’t want them. ...

True, I regret they didn't keep the Geophysic line. I am sure that it could have been a perfect line for some cool complications. Agreed on the not so new Burgundy.

 By: amanico : September 26th, 2020-00:30
I also regret they don't use the same creativity on relatively affordable and innovative watches than on their high end watches... Thanks for your input, my friend. Best, Nicolas

Big +1. I have been waiting patiently for JLC to make some moves but it seems they continue to stall. There comes a time when one realizes things will or will not change...

 By: holdemchamp1225 : September 25th, 2020-15:29
it is getting close for me with JLC. I absolutely LOVE my EL2, Duometre à Chronograph, Duometre QL, NSA, several Reversos, etc...but as explained I have not seen any JLC I have wanted to buy since, except for the Gyro 5. I have purchased so many watches f...

Which would be sad... [nt]

Yes we talked about this but time is passing by so I hope it does not take too long as the more time it takes the less likely people will care...

 By: holdemchamp1225 : September 25th, 2020-15:22
The pandemic has seemed to change how people perceive watches and how they want to purchase them. Social media continues to manipulate the opinions of what is currently cool or hot. If JLC does not react quickly, they will continue to lose market share an...

I can still read your name. Please check if this is ok for you!

 By: Reuven Malter : September 11th, 2020-16:07
Thanks for breaking the news, btw. Interesting tp hear - there must be reasons beyond the current situation imo.

Service and communication there was excellent.

 By: descartes1 : September 11th, 2020-17:47
I always viewed that boutique as a centerpiece for Watches

Very sad news. I am very sorry for the people who are directly affected by this incredible closure.

 By: PoyFR : September 11th, 2020-23:24
Everything we knew before doesn't seem to hold up anymore. With the Covid and the pre-Covid balances it is likely difficult to keep up. JLC is from the start an industrial, since recently owned and managed by the financial world, I think they know what ...

The JLC Boutique in Amsterdam was also closed last year.

 By: Watchonthewrists : September 11th, 2020-23:54
I think the costs are just to high for some companies to keep them open

We can buy a much lesser expensive watch this way, but

 By: PoyFR : September 12th, 2020-00:49
Will we really buy online anything else ? Whilst I do not hesitate to purchase from Amazon and likes, there is no way I can I have an incentive to discover, feel and buy an expensive watch I do not know by its presence The internet is to me great to gathe...

They had a special edition

When they closed the Raffles Hotel branch in Singapore. I missed the chance to buy it because I was broke then. Sigh... It was a reverso like this: Credit: ablogtowatch Credit: ablogtowatch ...

It's sad to see this but I hope on the flip side this inspires reinvention of the remaining boutiques so they can succeed and remain open

The NYC boutique is pleasant and the staff are great but it feels a decade or so out of time. A central glass case to stand around (stools were added) and desk or two and some seating hidden in the back with a periphery of museum like wall fixtures. Compa...

I was there a couple weeks ago.

 By: Skyrider01 : September 12th, 2020-10:55
I spoke to the boutique manager when I stopped by a couple of weeks ago, and he told me that unfortunately they will be closing. Sad indeed as I have been a client and friend of the boutique for several years. Most of the sales associates had already left...

Why shop at a Boutique?

 By: sirdavid : September 26th, 2020-02:48
Sad news for the staff and for watch afficionados. I like a lot of the current JLC offering. I enjoy the timeless elegance of their simpler designs, and their price points seem very fair. The Master Ultra Thin and Master redesigns over the past couple of ...

This is very true. Extremely poor resale value for JLC (and Lange too) really hurts the retail outlets

 By: descartes1 : September 26th, 2020-04:15
They really should consider offering reasonable discounts to make the boutiques and retail outlets competitive. Otherwise, all the inventory just winds up being sold by grays at huge discounts.
