Not harsh at all, this is crazy! This kind of service is a real let down.

How are people supposed to feel good about purchasing a JLC complication when they can't feel confident that it can be reliably serviced? In my mind a big part of the distinction between going with an independent vs a brand like JLC is knowing (err... believing maybe more appropriate) is that JLC will be around to properly service the watch for a long long time. However, if the only option for service in the US is the Richemont service center at that point JLC is not standing behind their watches, some amateur in TX is.
I'm sure they will happily take it back again and maybe the third time will be a charm but I might just hold on to it and find a local watchsmith to make the minute wheel adjustment.
As for the EL2, I did leave it with the boutique
I told myself if the Duometre came back with issues I wouldn't leave the EL2 so I looked to see if all the issues were resolved (which they were) and happily handed over my EL2 and went on my merry way. I wasn't looking for new issues and didn't notice it until I got home. I sent a email to the boutique to see if the EL2 has left yet. If not I may pick it up but I'm not sure if an independent watchmaker is going to be the best person to work on an EL2 either. More so than the Duo I'm guessing the EL2 would be best serviced by JLC vs and independent which leaves flying to Switzerland or mailing to Texas.....
Any thoughts or ideas?
