I own the 2018 green annual edition with the textured dial, and I adore it. Love that Tiki-lounge font of the numerals! However, I suggest seeing and handling the GO in real life before coming to a decision. At the very least, check out some youtube videos that show changing perspectives of the watch face. My impression is that the standard (non-textured) Sixties dials have a bit too much blank, flat, and empty space in the center of the dial. The original watch designs of the 1960's focused on the domed and rounded nature of the dial and this was emphasized by the domed crystals of the times. Visually, the current versions appear to be mostly flat dials with domed edges. I believe that the reason for this optical effect is the result of the increase in diameter of the modern versions. The vintage designs were somewhere close to 36mm, the modern tributes are 39mm. The designers scaled up the diameter but not the thickness, therefore the dome effect is diminished. This flattening optical effect is most clearly pronounced in the white dials, and is also present in the colored dials.
Somehow the textured dial versions seem to escape looking so flat and empty in the center. The bold texture camouflages the area of flatness. Don't get me wrong, the standard models are very beautiful and distinctive! I just think the standard non-textured versions would look much better at 36mm.
