My last pick up of the year and it comes full circle

I remember when I first saw the AMVOX2. It was circa 2007 and I was in my senior years of medical school. I had always admired watches and planned to purchase a watch for my graduation to commemorate the occasion.

I fell in love with the JLC brand back then. It was the watchmaker’s watchmaker. I boiled down my choice to the JLC Grande Sun Moon and the titanium AMVOX2. It was a difficult decision but I chose the reverso due to its classic style.

Many many years passed and I hadn’t thought about the AMVOX much. I got into vintage watches and as a consequence preferred watches in the 36-39mm range.

The only times I have been lured were through dear Nico’s posts of his PT version of the AMVOX2.

Over time I’ve developed of predilection for chronograph watches. I missed a few amazing opportunities such as the Centigraphe, and 1815 when they were “cheap”. I found myself looking at the back catalogues of JLC and have been looking for a 40.5mm duometre. And then, a AMVOX2 in PT popped up. I asked Nico for his thought and he said go for it. Well, the rest is history.

It’s a brilliant chronograph if you have played with it. The engagement of the chronograph through the glass makes it tactile and interesting. The chronograph counters are easy to read…no more counting sticks! The depth of the dial is superb with many different textures as well.

I only wish that the original strap was of a better quality. No worries though, a custom strap is in the works.

Happy Holidays!

You can’t go wrong with a pre-hype-years grail….and with Nico’s guidance 👌🏿.

Nothing beats a smoothly-activating and easy to read Chronograph. This one has a killer dial too. Congrats my friend

:))) Thank you.

The only issue of this watch is its original strap. The rest is just awesome. Welcome to the Amvox II Pt Club. A very select club. The funny thing is that for a LE of 200 pieces, I didn't see one very often.

Maybe less than ten times in the real? And even in picture! A rare bird, definitely, with a very interesting grey dial I like a lot. Enjoy, mon ami, and congrats. Best, Nicolas

Thank you friend! I appreciate your passion and advice.

I will make sure to post more pictures to make up for the dearth in seeing it. The grey touches are probably the best part. It plays with the light and can even come off as black in certain situations. Definitely a keeper in the stable.

gorgeous watch! Did you find it from another collector ?

The JLC reverso was the watch that got me hooked on mechanical timepieces, acquiring the Grande Date and later the Sun Moon (both I had sadly sold). I will hope to one day (I am sure) get back into the watchmakers of watchmakers fold again. Wonderful phot...

Great pick! Congratulation and happy holidays

I have a lowly titanium Amvox 2, but I wear it as a true tool watch and it has proven to be very scratch resistant. I also recently bought what appears to be a nearly NOS Amvox 7 because I love the unique power reserve design. Alas, both are at JLC during...

Lol nothing lowly about the Ti version and wow you got the AMVOX7!

Let me know how the service at JLC was! I hope these beauties get back on your wrist ASAP.

It came back from a warranty service after a routine service. Just before the service warranty ran out, I noticed the screw just below 8:00 was missing. The Texas service center re-laced the screw and sent the watch back within a month. No questions or ha...
