JLC should really engineer away the forbidden hours.

Other companies have. JLC surely can but have chosen not to. A shame.

Master Eight Day Perpetual Problem

 By: RDSChicago : May 20th, 2023-23:46
Hi all, I haven’t worn this watch in over three years. Today I pushed the adjuster around 1,200 times to set it to the current year and date and the calendar now reads Saturday, May 21, 2023. It is Saturday, May 20, 2023! Why is it one day off and what if...

Second time today we have heard the same story the other was an IWC.

Start to wonder about resetting today. It seems only the manufacture can adjust it. Ps: was it a one pusher adjustment.

“Easy” way is to pull the day of the week hand and move it over one

The “right” way is to send it in and some watchmaker will do it for you. Some cog jumped an extra space during your excitement. Not uncommon, sadly … Cazalea

Thanks. Ironically, in 2018, I screwed it up by setting the perpetual calendar in the forbidden hours. I paid $1800 to have it serviced by the factory. I’ve probably worn it five times since then and it looks like I’ll be paying $1800 again very soon! ...

Now you tell me ;-)

JLC should really engineer away the forbidden hours.

Who would you recommend I contact at JLC to ask? Maybe someone will sympathize with me since I already had the PC serviced once and this time, I set it correctly and this shouldn’t have happened. Thanks for your suggestions. BTW, I’ll be in Paris this wee...

RD, did JLC set it correctly in the first place?

I'm thinkin, could they have messed up the 2020 leap year's 29 days Februay? I wish you luck solving this issue! - W

Always a possibility. I didn’t check the date correctness while I was busy pushing the adjuster 1,200 times to bring it to the current date. Arduous process. My right fingers, hand and wrist are still sore from the exercise! I love the ease of adjustment ...

As you can´t test the function of the PC because there is no way back,

I suggest to push the adjuster until end of February 2024 and check the correctness of the leap year function. If it does not work properly, you can argument, that the function not worked correctly since the last revision. I have the first version of J-LC...

If anyone from JLC is reviewing this thread …

I believe this is precisely what occurred. The leap year function doesn’t work properly. Could someone from JLC please contact me as I want to give my future son-in-law a properly working perpetual calendar mechanism. Thank you in advance.
