Jaeger-Lecoultre Reverso Date: Some thoughts and pictures.

The Reverso Date first appeared in the catalog in 1998, to be discontinued in 2003.Maybe because Jaeger-Lecoultre thought that the Reverso 8 Days Grande Date replaced it?

That is not my opinion. Indeed, the Reverso Grande Date and the Reverso Date are two very different concepts.

While the Grande Date has a big case ( XGT ) and a 8 Days movement, it doesn't offer the day AND the date, just the date.

Here, you have, with the Reverso Date, a GT case ( 42 x 26 mm ) a strong reminiscence of the Past, a Past which started, for wristwatches indicating the day and the date, in the early Thirties with the Calendrier ( the round one, the rectangular came a bit after ) :

The Reverso Date came in a stainless steel version and in rose gold, too, both sharing the same dial, and, at the end, in a sublime white gold case / black dial configuration, the dial showing some floral numbers, really sublime!

But, in stainless steel, this Watch doesn't lack interest nor charm.

Here are some pictures I could recently take:

To appreciate without moderation ( our dear Dje's one, taken in picture some 6 years ago:

And a last one, the latest Reverso Tribute Calendar, to put things in perspective:
