Jaeger Lecoultre Pre SIHH 2019: Master Ultra Thin Moon Guilloché Enamel. Some quick thoughts.
Dec 15, 2018,12:43 PM
The Master Ultra Thin Moon is a well known watch. Unveiled in steel or in rose gold with a silver dial in 2011, it came in steel with a superb black dial in 2015, and in 2018 with a slate grey dial / rose gold case.
This year we have something " a bit " different, with a white gold case and a superb midnight blue guilloché enamel dial, which represents the most spectacular change, and whose decoration is a clear nod to a Lady's pocket watch you can see here:
More subtle, the hour-markers at 3 / 6 / 9 / 12, which are doubled.
Another detail I like a lot, the ring of the date surrounding the moon phase, which is engraved and gives a really pleasant three dimensional look. The laser digs the numbers, then they receive a sandblast finish.
I couldn't see the watch in the metal, but I could take a picture of the dial:
Now, a detail I heard about that watch, something which was confirmed to me and which I found very interesting... The movement, the Cal 925/2 has a power reserve of... 70 hours, which is at least 50% longer than on the former versions.
We'll discuss that last point. Don't worry.
The case is 39 mm big, which is exactly the same size than before, but due to the enamel dial, 0, 8 mm thicker ( 10, 04 mm ). The lugs are tighter, to save some consistence with the slightly thicker case.
Last detail, the moon and its " bed " of stars looks familiar to us, as it seems to be very close to the one you can admire in the Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire White Gold Enamel Dial.
This Master Moon 39 White Gold Guilloché Enamel is limited to 100 pieces, " one of 100 ". I asked what was the rule on that matter and I have been told that above 50 pieces, it is " one of xx(x) ". Below 50 pieces, the edition is numbered.
What do you think?
Best,
Nicolas
