I was fortunate to find this pink gold edition in 2005 before it was discontinued and replaced by the Master Calendar:

Jaeger Lecoultre Master Géographique. Which is the first watch which drove you to pay some interest for the brand?

 By: amanico : January 3rd, 2020-06:55
The Master Géographique was the first watch, in the early 90's, to catch my interest and to introduce me to the brand. Ok, I knew the Polaris, and the Reverso, but the Géographique was, for me, pure magic. Most of all, for its unusual complication. Think ...

Hi Nico,

For me it was JLC navy seal alarm

I tried it in 2010, I've seen it once in real

A Purist Watch? [nt]

JLC was my first love when i got into watches for their heritage

 By: Reuven Malter : January 3rd, 2020-07:55
And reasonable prices. This was in 2012 or 2013 and i liked the MUT moon the most for its small bezel, classic looks and moonphase complication.

Nice choice. Which one? This one?

 By: amanico : January 3rd, 2020-07:57
...

Nope, SS with silver dial. I remember that i read the catalogue about a 1000 times back then.

 By: Reuven Malter : January 3rd, 2020-08:12
These were my favorite pages... I have to say that this was not my favorite watch, but the watch i could actually pay for back then. ...

No and im happy with that

 By: Reuven Malter : January 3rd, 2020-08:20
I bought that instead: Now, i only want that deap sea alarm and i might be done with watches forever ...

That one?

 By: amanico : January 3rd, 2020-10:29
...

Hmmmm yes :-)

Thanks for another appetizer, Nicolas!

I got to see and handle first-hand the entire line. That was a real eye-opener! I was 21 years old, so all I could afford to buy at that time was this one. It cost me all of $75.00 US. They gave me the bracelet for free. I still have it and it still runs ...

For me the same complication,but...

...a slightly different watch : the Master Compressor Geographique in steel. Just loved this original design created by Magali Métrailler : a watch with character!

What caught my attention was when JLC introduces the 1000 hours testing...

 By: W72 : January 3rd, 2020-08:49
The watch then was the The Master Control 1000 Hours (later release known as Master Grande Taille) circa 1992.. To me it was fascinating to learn that Jaeger LeCoultre was testing some of the watch in their manufacture in Le Sentier to 1000 hours. The pop...

That's a beauty

 By: Brandon Skinner : January 3rd, 2020-10:32
Perhaps a little more charming than the most current iteration of the Master Control

Master control

For me it was getting a simple Master Control grand taille; my first serious watch besides a 1970 Speedmaster I bought when I was 18. Was around 30 when I got the JLC and it marked not only a change towards a more mature style of watch but also establishe...

Have been wondering about that

 By: th.gr.ga : January 3rd, 2020-13:51
For some time I lusted after an ultra thin 34mm cal 849 - could be a nice option as well. For the last few years I had a one piece per brand rule, but my last two aquisitions have both been Cartiers so that rule is out of the window. JLC is my first and s...

Another Reverso

 By: jml_watches : January 3rd, 2020-13:06
This one Advertising does work, saw an advert for a Reverso after I'd bought my first mechanical watch for myself ( my Oris Big Crown, which I still have) & thought it looked good & if it's around X I'll have one. Unfortunately it was a rather large multi...

I have since disappeared down a JLC rabbit hole from the '90s

With the odd vintage distraction Cheers JML

Also the Geophysique circa 2002

 By: emcquillan : January 3rd, 2020-13:41
I saw the Patek 5110 first, but at the time could not justify the cost. Something I later corrected.

For me

The Memovox Caliber 815

E 853?

 By: amanico : January 3rd, 2020-14:53
...

Yup the 853 uses caliber 815 ( also in E857)

 By: EinPa : January 3rd, 2020-14:57
Then came the 825 used in the E855 (added a date function) Real beauties you’ve got there!

Not mines. I have a nice pair of E 855 Cal 825.

Here they are... ...

love the light dial

 By: EinPa : January 3rd, 2020-15:14
and that alarm is what got me hooked

I noted that

 By: EinPa : January 3rd, 2020-15:23
a great find

Even though I never owned any of them, I would say the “crazy” watches: duometre, master compressors, lab 2, amvox. Completely unlike everything else in haute horology

 By: ektaylor : January 4th, 2020-04:18
Even though they were a little too outre for my conservative tastes, they drew my attention to the master line, where all my JLC watches come from.

Some indeed.

 By: VMM : January 4th, 2020-09:00
Like most of us, the models that called my attention back in the 90's were the Master Geographic, the Master Reserve de Marche, and I really liked the 37 mm, manual winding Memovox (Ref: 144.8.94.S) what a nice watch, I almost bought it a couple of times....

Reverso came first - but did not have the funds.

 By: cfn : January 4th, 2020-13:04
I grew up with a father who wore a Polaris and a Memovox E873. That made me aware of the brand. Living in Brussels, Belgium in 1992~1993, there was a watch dealer that exhibited the Reverso models in steel and steel/gold on the Place du Grand Sablon. Had ...
