Jaeger Lecoultre Master Grande Ultra Thin Blue. From a very cool to a great watch?

Oct 18, 2019,04:09 AM

The Jaeger Lecoultre Master Grande Ultra Thin Blue is a cool, very cool watch, already.

Dressy and class, with its " Ultra Thin " case, cool with its blue dial, this is an eye catching model, in my opinion.

Now, let' s make some changes:

- The easiest thing: Change the painted JL Jaeger Lecoultre " for an applied.

- Take one millimeter off, let's go for a 39 or 38 mm case. With such a dial aperture it looks bigger than it is, yet.

- Now, let's change the automatic movement for a manual winding one, the famous Cal 849, a great and very nicely decorated movement.

- Consequently, if we go for the Cal 849, then we don't need the small second anymore.

- Cherry on the cake, let's go for leaf shaped hands.

What do you think?

Best,

Nicolas

I‘m with you all the way, except...

...that I‘d keep the hands. I like the more sporty and modern look. It‘s already a very nice piece in any case. This is what JLC really excels at imho. Daniel

Hmm, I'd Change something else

While I'd Support some of your changes ( e.g. going Manual wound) and disagree with one (going from 39 to 38mm), there's something more important for me. I Had it on my wrist and what kept me away from buying it was the Chosen blue colour. It's too flashy...

did you by any chance stopped being a lawyer & start a watch brand ?!

you're right in your add/delete list but can we make it in king of metals too Best, mahesh.,

Less changes

I would not change as much as suggested for instance Iwould: - keep the hands as is because in my view they match perfectly with the hour markers - I wouldn’t mind keeping it as an automatic - would go to 38 mm - wouldn’t want to lose the seconds sundial ...

Nice ideas, Nicolas.

But if you go all the way with your proposals, then you may end up with this just with blue dial . The most important thing you should keep price at bay . Regards JK ...

And without the wording...

The definitive version doesn't have " email grand feu " written on the dial, which is way better. Now the problem of this version is the retail, which is way too high. With a blue enamel dial, that may be a killer. Thanks, JK. Best, Nicolas ...

I fully agree

With all comments from amanico. JLC has already done it way better with the handwound email watch shown above...

For me the perfect JLC MUT is the 34mm version with the 849

I think they already have a blue faced version in platinum?

Yes, it existed!

...

Yes. Mostly.

On this one I would also make it smaller and move to a manual movement (with sub-seconds!), but keep the Dauphine hands, and I would do something about the indexes at twelve o’clock - which have always felt ‘wrong’ to me; I believe they would benefit from...

I must say, the blue dial very pleasing to the eyes Nico. 👍

For me

I'd keep the hands. Everything else, agree wholeheartedly. With that thin bezel, too much dial. And that incredibly bright dial keeps it from being anything but casual wear for me. Then again, I rarely dress up anymore, anyhow! ...

Thanks Nico! [nt]

Has this been replaced?

I just looked it up on JLC website. The MUT small seconds shown there is 39mm with an automatic movement. That version seems to have an applied logo, and hour markers of a uniform length which is much nicer. (On the watch in your picture I dislike particu...
