I'd opt for the JLC

Perfect proportions and style

I'm not a fan of the 60s GO style

This or that

I cannot ignore these two at a very similar price point… Which one for you, and why? *Images borrowed ...

Tougher call than I thought…

Yes purer without date. But if I want the less “dressy” of the two, could one argue the date makes the JLC a touch more casual than the GO?

I have enough casual steel watches 😉

Eye on the gold ones now 😂 We agree the GO is the purists choice with no date 👍🏻 Thanks for weighing in mon ami

Ooooh that’s a nice one

By: Aquaracer1 : September 4th, 2024-21:18
I hadn’t thought of. I watched a review and enjoyed it, alas the price looks to be a bit prohibitive for this time around !

Of course

By: Aquaracer1 : September 4th, 2024-21:34
But we can enjoy discussing and I can procrastinate putting off the decision a little longer 😉

Can't decide!

I keep going back and forth between the two...initially I was leaning JLC by the slightest of margins due to it's, in my opinion, higher versatility quotient (if that's a thing..lol). But then I look at the GO and it's so playful and seems like you could ...

See, it’s much more difficult than I originally thought!

The tiebreaker for me may be the JLC’s mesmerizing silver sunburst dial. That is really something else. The cherry on top is the blued seconds hand. The GO has a similar color silver dial, but it is fine grain, not sunburst. On the other hand, the GO is s...

JLC for me.

Dauphine hands, dart indexes, numbers font -- all winners. The GO has its charms, though...

I'll live with the date on the JLC

By: Thomas_3 : September 4th, 2024-21:05
because I really prefer the applied numerals. Absolutely nothing wrong with the other, it is beautiful but I'll take the applied numerals.

Nice suggestion

However I’m leaning towards the MC if I go JLC, its aesthetics are more pleasing to me . Thank you

I have a thing...

I never have cared for the numerals shown on watch dials. The 12 - 3 - 6 - 9 - thing never really appeals to me. In this case I will have to abstain. Both have charms. GO has the heritage of German excellence. JLC is the master of movements, IMHO. Flip a ...

Thanks for weighing in

Wish we shared the same problem. My finances would likely be in better shape. I love the numerals on dials, hence my weighing this decision and also loving other dial designs such as Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage, and more recently , the GO SeaQ 39.5 mm, w...

Interesting set of remarks — both are beautiful — were it not for the date, easily the JLC.

The GO doesn’t sing to me — so, I would be inclined to think about other options. I have no idea about the price point for either of these watches. But, Moser, Rolex 1908, the new VC 56 in rose gold?

Thanks for your response

And suggestions. Pre-owned, these 2 I’m considering are priced much lower, so I’m afraid those alternatives are going to be prohibitive for me

Interesting as both are modern takes on 50-60 year old dress watch design. At first I saw an easy decision for the GO. Not a fan of 3 o'clock dates that disrupt dial aesthetics and balance and

I like the style of the numerals on the GO. But the more I looked the more I realized this is a tighter race than originally thought. The JLC is super clean and snappy looking. Also its hands are uniquely cool and fun. Both brands have earned high respect...

Great analysis

Thank you for your comments. At first it was an easy GO decision for me , but then this damn JLC creeps in! Yes, I can afford one (both are priced about the same). So yes, agreed, I should make no sacrifice . It’s just a matter of choosing now !

I love JLC

By: RogerParadise : September 5th, 2024-01:52
but in this price range, GO would be the better choice, JLC is outstanding in higer ranges

The GO wins for me.

No date and a very unusual, sleek and a sense of uniqueness because of the number font. The JLC, while nice, looks like many others. (Think Calatrava).

JLC for me

Hi I prefer the hands & dial layout. The date doesn't bother me. Though it might be a different story after I've tried them on. We e all looked at watches & thought they looked great - but after trying them on it's an almost instant no. Enjoy making the d...

Between these two the GO 👌🏻

By: KMII : September 5th, 2024-08:40
Nothing wrong with the JLC but between these two the GO simply has the more unique, distinctive design 😊👍🏻

JLC

By: smironov : September 5th, 2024-15:44
I like the font and hands on JLC better. Enough to compensate for the date cut out.

6-10 JLC

By: Aquaracer1 : September 5th, 2024-16:17
Looks like the community has spoken. With some members forced to abstain because it was too close to call. Welcome to my world 😂 Thanks everyone for weighing in!

If I was buying for myself I’d go with

By: Derreck : September 5th, 2024-17:06
the JLC. It’s fresher and sportier, I can see myself wearing it even with a jeans and t shirt, GO on the other hand even though beautiful to look at, on the wrist to me would seem a bit too classical and outdated and I wouldn’t wear it. Just my personal o...

Agree JLC is the sportier of the 2

By: Aquaracer1 : September 5th, 2024-18:01
That probably suits me best since my lifestyle rarely calls for a dress watch. Although I’m betting either can be dressed down with the right strap. Thanks for your comment

Glashutte deifnitely, and I am a massive JLC Fan.

By: eklektik : September 6th, 2024-19:37
The basic JLC is rather plain and does not bring any excitement for me. This glashutte however with its special font and dial is a nice tribute to historical timepieces. Much more interesting in my eyes. You need to go Ultra Thin or to the models with com...

My vote is for the Glashutte, with one caveat.

I own the 2018 green annual edition with the textured dial, and I adore it. Love that Tiki-lounge font of the numerals! However, I suggest seeing and handling the GO in real life before coming to a decision. At the very least, check out some youtube video...

Both are great. it would depend...

By: watchme : September 12th, 2024-15:53
on for what use? If it's for business purposes, I would go with the JLC because it has a date. if it's more for dress, the GO is nice, too. I'm more partial to JLC, with the exception of GO's perpetual calendar. At the end of the day, get the one that "sp...
