My assessment:

The influence and audience of WatchProSite vastly exceeds the Dubai Watch Club. So why could/would JLC make a special piece for them and not for us?
Willingness of JLC to accommodate a special request depends on several factors:
1. Desire to nurture and build an audience... In this instance, JLC regards Arabia and Asia as markets which they are willing to do more for than Western market, which is how JLC perceives WatchProSite. Sad but true.
2. Ease of accomodating the requested special piece. In this instance, the Master Calendar special piece was a simple project, as steel case, meteorite dial and every other component were off the shelf items in the JLC factory -- just a different combination from what they had offered in the general catalog. In this case, to me, the request made a superior product to what was offered originally, as well. When you talk of making, say, a tantalum Duometre, well, there is no off the shelf tantalum Duometre case as far as I know, and the Duometre line has of late been relegated to a second class status at JLC.
3. If we are to ultimately get JLC to make a special product for us here, it must be non-exotic, reasonable, different from what has been offered over the years, and still relatively simple to construct. As I see it, the makings of such a product will be using a hopefully soon released new movement with longer 70 hour power reserve in a steel case with simple, i.e. not too expensive yet still very desirable complication that will be appealing to enough members to fund at least 25 pieces, in a design configuration that JLC has not offered and does not anticipate offering in the foreseeable future. Maybe an unknown design with new movement which will be presented at SIHH 2020 will hint at such a constellation of factors which will please us members and also be worth constructing by those with power to act at JLC...
