Great piece

This is a very special piece.. many might overlook it due to the dead beat but it’s a masterpiece. No pushers or additional crowns, yet setting and reading the time is so convenient... so sad to see this discontinued. There are many worldtimers but this in my view is very unique.. you need to really know what you are wearing to appreciate it enough
Only thing is I don’t find the clasp comfortable

Jaeger Lecoultre Geophysic Universal Time.

 By: amanico : November 4th, 2019-11:26
One picture of a Geophysic Universal Time recently auctioned ( by Antiquorum ). Each time I see one, my heart is beating faster. Duometres apart, this is one of my modern Jaeger Lecoultre priority. It would make a great pair with my Patek 5110P. Two diffe...

Looks perfect! [nt]

Yes, however, my opinion is that the Geophysic...

Is easier to read and operate, since the cities don’t move when the time is changed. I like the fact that your home city is always at whatever hour location every time you look at it. The 5110 and 5130 and 5230 are, without a doubt, very collectible becau...

A modern Classic, indeed. I agree and disagree about the second hand.

I know that it can be disturbing to see the second hand " jumping " rather than sweeping, but I disagree as it is THE raison d'être of this Geophysic... I am very happy to know that this watch houses a very nice looking AND technical movement. Best, Nicol...

The dead-beat seconds doesn’t bother me...

 By: watchme : November 4th, 2019-12:43
But I know it has bothered others. What I REALLY like is the double-sided bridge and technical features of this movement. It is really designed as a robust movement. I believe it may have had its roots in the “Autotractor” series (975), when looking at th...

I really like the Cal 770 / 772, a lot.

I hope to see more stuff like this from JLC... A Polaris Home time? Why not? After the Geographique, the WT Chrono, why not a friendly HT? ...

Great piece

Well, I think you may know where I stand on this one, Nicolas... ;-)

The Patek is an iconic piece, to be sure -- but, for a number of reasons, I prefer the Geophysic. The fact that the city ring is fixed is a plus -- but, even better, the cities themselves are placed on the ring so as to approximate their relative position...

Agreed! [nt]

Universal time watches!

 By: Mary Anny : November 5th, 2019-01:33
I take your point on Swiss world time watches here. They are spectacular! Nevertheless, don’t forget that vintage Japanese watches like the Seiko worldtime GMT or the Citizen 68-0516 are much more cosmopolitan than their Swiss-based counterparts (ha ha). ...

Yep!

 By: Mary Anny : November 5th, 2019-03:09
Curious that they use the Paris-Rome (or even Madrid) nomenclature for the first meridian. Swiss watches only show the position of Paris or a couple of Swiss cities. Japanese!

I have the Orient World Time...

With the reverse-panda layout. It has guilloche dial, power reserve, is 43mm with sapphire crystal and in-house (though completely NOT decorated) movement, and it is gorgeous! And it cost me all of US $316. Oh, and the Orient movements wind very efficient...

Wow!

I am just gathering a couple of pictures of those watches and as soon as I get the permissions I would like to share them with you in the Horological Meandering feature. What do you think?

Go! [nt]
